A MAN was placed on a year’s probation yesterday after admitting to stealing $2,378.79 worth of a woman’s property, which he later admitted to returning to the owner.

Jamel Parker, 45, appeared before Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr on charges of stealing and receiving.

On September 3, Parker was arrested for stealing $2,378.79 worth of items from Denise Russell. These included a Tommy Hilfiger duffle bag, a black wallet, ten cigars, a black cap, wrap skirt, hair braiding wrap, two hair combs and $2,000 in cash.

In court, Parker pleaded guilty to the stealing charge resulting in the receiving charge being withdrawn.

He expressed remorse for his actions and explained that he had returned the stolen items to their rightful owner.

In view of this, the magistrate placed the accused on probation.
