A MAN was denied bail and sent to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services yesterday for allegedly shooting at a woman while out on bail for firearms.
Shacardo Culmer, 27, stood before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on multiple charges, including attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Culmer also faced six counts of violation of bail conditions set by the Supreme Court.
Justice Renea McKay had granted Culmer $9,900 bail in November of 2021 on charges of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Between September 1-10, it is alleged that the accused failed to charge his electronic monitoring device on five occasions. Culmer is further accused of failing to sign in at the Quakoo Street Police Station on September 10 in compliance with his bail conditions.
Also around 9pm on September 10 at Griffin Street, Culmer is alleged to have shot at Daija Ingraham while she was in her vehicle, resulting in the complainant’s back window shattering.
While the accused pleaded not guilty to all bail violation charges he was not required to enter a plea for the attempted murder or firearm charges. These charges will be fast tracked to the Supreme Court by way of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).
Culmer was then denied bail. He is expected to return to court for service of his VBI and continuation of his trial on February 9, 2023.
