A MAN on bail for armed robbery and kidnapping was sent to prison after he was accused of failing to charge his monitoring device and trying to escape police.
Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux charged Shaquille Demerritte, 28, with escape and five counts of violating bail conditions.
The Supreme Court previously granted Demeritte bail for armed robbery, receiving and kidnapping.
The accused allegedly failed to charge his monitoring device for five days between July 25 – August 16.
He allegedly escaped lawful custody of police briefly around 7.20pm on August 23 before being recaptured.
After pleading not guilty to the charges, the accused was denied bail. He will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until his trial date on November 16.
