A MAN was granted $7,000 bail yesterday after he allegedly assaulted another man with a loaded gun last week.
Layton Cox, 47, faced Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of an unlicenced firearm and possession of ammunition.
On March 18, in New Providence, it is alleged that Cox, while armed with a handgun, assaulted George Munroe. Later that same day, it is further alleged that police arrested the accused for having the same firearm as well as seven unfired rounds of 9mm ammunition.
He pleaded not guilty and bail of $7,000 was granted. Under the conditions of this bail, he is expected to sign in at his local police station every Sunday by 7pm. The accused was also ordered to be fitted with an electronic monitoring device.
Cox’s trial is set to start on April 26.
