A MAN awaiting trial for murder was sentenced to four years in prison after he was found guilty of having a loaded gun yesterday.
Magistrate Lennox Coleby concluded the trial of Keno Stubbs, 23, for charges of possession of an unlicenced firearm and possession of ammunition.
Ian Jupp represented the defendant.
Stubbs was on bail for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of Timothy Saunders at Rubis Service Station on Mackey and Madeira Streets on May 2, 2022.
After reviewing the evidence against Stubbs in his firearm trial, Magistrate Coleby found him guilty.
Stubbs was sentenced to four years at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services and was informed of his right to appeal sentencing within seven days.
Another man was sentenced to 18 months in prison after admitting to having over 100 rounds of ammunition and quantities of dangerous drugs in his Dignity Gardens home last weekend.
Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr charged Leroy Hield, 35, with two counts of possession of ammunition with intent to supply and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.
Mark Penn represented the accused.
Police reportedly found Hield with 25 rounds of .380 ammunition and 102 rounds of 9mm ammunition in his residence around 5.30pm on February 10. Hield was also found with a quantity of cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy pills.
After pleading guilty, the accused was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the ammunition charges and 12 months in prison for the drug charges.
Both sentences are to run concurrently.
