A MAN was granted bail after he was allegedly found with a loaded firearm and eight pounds of marijuana in Eleuthera last weekend.

Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley charged Daxton Gibson, 33, with possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.

Quinton Percentie represented the defendant.

Police allegedly found Gibson with a black Austria Glock 9mm pistol and over 40 rounds of ammunition at Three Island Dock in North Eleuthera on January 12.

Gibson also allegedly had eight pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $8,000.

After pleading not guilty to the charges, the defendant’s bail was set at $9,500 with one or two sureties.

Under the terms of his bail, Gibson must sign in at the North Eleuthera Airport Police Station every Friday.

His trial begins in Harbour Island on February 28.
