A woman is dead after being found with injuries to her upper body at a residence just off Homestead Street.
Police responded to a call from a man asking for help from emergency medical services at about 11.30am on Tuesday.
At the scene, some members of the victim's family were inconsolable.
Police said the incident is possibly of a domestic nature.
