A MAN in a wheelchair was granted $7,500 bail after he was accused of having a loaded gun in New Providence this week.
Magistrate Lennox Coleby charged Sheron Thompson, 34, with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
Thompson was allegedly found with a black Austria Glock 9mm pistol and 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition on May 6.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Thompson was told that under the terms of his bail, he must sign in at the South Beach Police Station every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday by 6pm.
He also will be fitted with a monitoring device and must obey a 7pm to 7am residential curfew.
When Levan Johnson, the defendant’s attorney, raised concerns over his client’s monitoring device, Magistrate Coleby instructed him to call the monitoring company whenever he left the house beyond curfew for medical reasons.
Thompson’s trial begins on June 23.
