A NEW jury was impanelled in the inquest into the fatal police-involved shooting of 21-year-old Aliko Collins in Pinewood Gardens in 2017.
The previous jury was dismissed in May due to what the coroner deemed inappropriate behaviour during the officers’ testimony.
Now-retired Superintendent Basil Collie, the subject of the inquest, allegedly shot and killed Collins after he and two accomplices reportedly accosted the officer during an early morning walk on Bamboo Blvd on 8 February 2017. Collie claims the deceased had a gun at the time.
After a lengthy selection process, acting Coroner Kara Turnquest-Deveaux informed the five-member jury that evidence in the case would be heard today at 11am.
K Melvin Munroe represented Mr Collie, while Angelo Whitfield will marshal the evidence.
