A MAN awaiting trial for attempted murder was denied bail on Friday after he was accused of stealing car parts and damage.
Senior Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr arraigned Remeldo Clarke, 29, on stealing and two counts of damage.
Clarke is accused of stealing $770 worth of car parts from a Nissan Note and causing $450 worth of damage to the same vehicle in Kennedy Subdivisions on January 27.
On that same date, the defendant is accused of causing $500 worth of damage to a black Nissan Note in Garden Hills.
After electing to continue his matter before the magistrate, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecution objected to the defendant’s bail. They cited that the defendant was on bail for a pending attempted murder charge and was wearing a monitoring device. They also noted that the accused had a prior conviction for escape from lawful custody.
Thompson’s bail was denied and he will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until his trial begins on March 31.
Levan Johnson represented the accused.
