LETTER: Hoping US Ambassador is declined

EDITOR, The Tribune.

NOMINATION of ex-NFL player Herschel Walker as Ambassador to the Bahamas by The US.

One thing is for sure since Independence the US sent some extraordinary personalities as Ambassadors...all top quality and brought a lot to the relations between the two countries.

I Googled Herschel Walker...there has to be some unseen reason that President Trump is nominating Mr Walker - least said but Google, you will I think come away with the same feeling.

My honest hope is the Senate Foreign Service Committee will decline this nomination.

We have not had an Ambassador for some six-eight years, last one the beautiful HE Nicole Avant.

Sarah, it sounds like you don't want someone who will stand up for the Bahamian people instead of their numbered ballot "elected" government. Sounds like you don't want the US to help us even though we rely on them for 90% of what we have. Or maybe you just don't want him because he is a "personal friend" of Donald Trump, and well "Orange Man Bad" - right? Maybe he might help Donald to find out if Bahamians truly want to become a state (52 after Greenland?) of the country that they visit and spend-in or send all of their money to and listen to all of the music of and watch all the movies from and dress like and sing like and do everything except get their potholes fixed from. You know the reason Trump did not give us TPS after Dorian and maybe you like that direction we are heading in? Anyway, for those who have not even seen Walker, here is a video clip ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7pxx6u…">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7pxx6u…

Hey Jack,

Walker is an idiot. he doesn't know what day it is. Might be an ok guy to have a beer with. But, ambassador to The Bahamas. Be serious. And Jack, are you paying attention to the educated people standing up against the fool trump? Might seem like those who still support him are in some k of cult mentality. He is destroying the US. Don't get it Jack? Try education. It tends to help.

I'm sure @JokeyJack is chuckling at your reference to all those "educated people" with you implying that you are one of them. After all, as the adage goes, the world is full of well educated fools who cannot think.

Further, Is it not well established that trump is a pathological liar, as well as being a narcissist. Are these qualifications for a national leader? His cabinet is made up of sycophant billionaires who care nothing about The People. How does a person miss this, and still support someone devoid of character? Well, I guess we do it here too, hey?

LOL. You have my vote to be the first one in line to get multiple doses of the new anti-TDS vaccine being developed by Pfizer and Moderna at RFK Jr.'s request.

Yes, it's called standing on principle. Gave up on that, hey?

It's one thing to stand on principle, but quite another thing to die on it.

You can only live to fight another day for what you believe in if you avoid being blinded by the ginned up hatred promoted by incessant political propaganda designed to create irrational reasoning and behaviour of the kind exhibited by those who suffer from severe cases of TDS.

Trump foolishly poured a lot of political capital into Herschel Walker a few years ago, and Walker still came up the loser in an important election in Georgia for a US Senate seat. Loser Walker had to be parked somewhere befitting his failed bid to become a US senator, and clearly an ambassadorship posting to The Bahamas quickly came to Trump's mind.

We stand to gain very little if anything from his appointment given that he has no significant political standing or major business connections in the US in his own right.
