A TEENAGER is dead after an early Saturday morning shooting and a second man is injured after a separate shooting incident on Friday night.

The 19-year-old victim in the fatal shooting was walking with a family member in the area of McCullough Corner, off East Street, at about 2.15am, when the pair were approached from behind by a lone gunman who opened fire.

Police were alerted to the gunfire by ShotSpotter technology.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance but subsequently died from his injuries.

In the second incident, a 58-year-old man was shot at about 10.50pm on Friday.

A man reported shot the victim in the upper body after police said he was involved in a "physical confrontation" with the victim and his son.

The victim was taken to hospital by private vehicle, and his condition was reported to be non-life threatening.

Again, police were alerted to the gunfire by ShotSpotter. The incident took place in the area of Farrington Road and Sara Robinson Road.

Police also report they are investigating an alleged attempted suicide by a 26-year-old woman at a residence on Fraser Allotment. Officers were alerted before 11am on Friday. Reportedly, the woman allegedly ingested a large quantity of over-the-counter medication on Thursday, after 6.30pm.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment and further evaluation.
