Marion “Mallie” Elizabeth Lightbourn

Marion Elizabeth Lightbourn affectionately known as "Mallie" passed away on the 14th of July 2014 at her home on Greenwood Road. She was born in Nassau on April 1st. 1918 the daughter of Herbert Arnold McKinney and Rebecca Maud McKinney (nee French). She was educated at St. Hilda’s School in Nassau and Ashford Girls’ School in Kent, England.

She is survived by her three sons-Mike, Richard (MP for Montagu) and Timothy and his wife Ruth, 9 grandchildren-Tiffany Sullivan (Chris), Rebecca Newbold (Gaylord), Sabrina Lightbourn, Colin Lightbourn (Natasha), Philip Lightbourn (Christine), Heather Peterson (Nick), Ryan Lightbourn (Caitlin), Christy Lightbourn and Dylan Lightbourn, 9 great grandchildren-Siobhan Sullivan , Max Sullivan, Nicholas Peterson, Gabriella Sullivan, Morgan Peterson, Isabella Lightbourn, Isla Lightbourn, Harper Peterson and Liam Lightbourn and one brother, Andrew McKinney , Nephews,Ron G.Lightbourn , Christopher ,Neil and Gavin Mckinney , Neil and Andrew Mactaggart , Nieces , Valerie Sangwine (nee Johnson) Diane Sturm (nee Johnson) ,Chris Wardell (nee Wightman) , Cathy Bancroft (Nee Wightman) and Carla Cole (nee Wightman) Ann Pleydell-Bouverie (Nee Mactaggart),Robin Symonette (nee Mactaggart) and Tara Mactaggart , Gail Theodoracopulos (nee McKinney) , Jane Baxter (nee Mckinney) , Doon McKinney and Shona Stopford-Sackville (nee McKinney),Cousins James and Sidney French and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings Jean (Bab) Chapman, Basil (Jen) McKinney, Donald (Boo) McKinney, Margot (Cree) Kelly, Shelia (Trixie) Mactaggart and Mike McKinney.

Mrs. Lightbourn has spent the past 55 years in London, visiting home for two months yearly during the Xmas period. She has been a loyal member of St. Martin in the Fields Anglican Church in Trafalgar Square, London and Christ Church Cathedral in Nassau. Over the years she has become a fixture at most functions held by the Bahamas High Commission in London. She has been a friend to and entertained most of the staff at the Commission over the years as well as students and friends of the Bahamas who have lived in London both part and full time.
Funeral service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, George Street, Nassau, on Thursday, 24th July, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.

The Very Reverend Patrick L. Adderley, Dean and Rector, Christ Church Cathedral, Vicar General The Diocese of Nassau, The Bahamas, and Reverend Father Colin Humes, Priest Vicar.

Those attending are invited to wear bright colours.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Bahamas National Trust, Box N. 4106 , Nassau or the Ranfurly Home For Children, Box N. 1413 , Nassau, in memory of Mrs Marion Elizabeth Lightbourn.
