A funeral service for Mr. Knowles, will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, Buckley's, Long Island, on Saturday, 5th May, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
Archdeacon Keith N. Cartwright, Archdeacon of The Turks and Caicos Islands and the Southern Bahamas and Reverend Deacon Bryton B. Ward, assistant Curate St. Paul's Anglican Parish, will officiate and interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Leon passed away peacefully at home in his sleep in Hamilton’s Long Island.
Cherished and loved he is predeceased by his wife Verna and survived by his daughter Linda Brown and her husband Robert Brown, granddaughter Lauren (Brown) Connolly, husband Sean, great grand children Vivienne, Elise, Richard and Juliette Connolly, granddaughter Danielle (Brown) Rapillard & husband Dylan and granddaughter Kristin Brown and brother Edmund Knowles and his wife Sandra.
A dedicated banker at Barclays Bank for 36 years he was also a faithful member of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Nassau where he served many years on the vestry. Leon with his fierce love for Long Island was a founding member of the Long Islander’s Association and a dedicated president for many years. He was admired and respected by many throughout The Bahamas and abroad.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. Paul’s Anglican Parish for St. John’s anglican Church, P.O. Box C.T. 30316, Clarence Town, Long Island, The Bahamas.
