George Loran Pyfrom IV
unknown - unknown
A Funeral Service for the Late George Loran Pyfrom IV, age 67, of Nassau, The Bahamas, will be held at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Shirley and Church Streets, Nassau, on Friday, 28th September, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.
The Right Reverend Laish Z. Boyd, Bishop of The Diocese of The Bahamas and The Turks and Caicos Islands and Reverend Father Neil Nairn will officiate.
George was born on July 1, 1951 in Nassau, Bahamas to the late George Loran III and Dorothy Pyfrom (nee Cash). He joined his older sister, Ethelyn, and completed their family of four. He proudly carried on the George Loran moniker.
George spent 9 years in England, completing his studies at Wells Cathedral School and Twickenham College of Technology. During that time, he met Susan Pyfrom (nee Yates) while back in Nassau on school break in 1972. She joined him in London for the remainder of his studies, and the two married on April 6, 1974. George had found his soul mate and best friend.
They had two children of whom George couldn’t be more proud; Jennifer O’Sullivan (m. Jerry O’Sullivan) of Santa Monica, California, and Loran Pyfrom, V, of Nassau. They made him a grandfather by giving him his three granddaughters; Alana and Kelsey Pyfrom and Caroline O’Sullivan. Being a Gampie absolutely delighted him. He adored those little girls, and there was no one he’d rather share his candy with.
George loved his family, especially his wife Sue, as she was his anchor, balance, and wise counsel for forty-four years. His loved ones knew that while he could be gentle as a lamb, he would give his all for them and protect them with everything he had.
George always told his children that if they wanted to get something done, ask a busy man to do it. And a busy man George was. He was self-made, and throughout the course of his life he had his hand in many businesses - often at the same time! From distributing charcoal to installing satellite dishes to writing complex computer programs, he did whatever he could do to provide the best life possible for his family.
For the past 25 years, he successfully ran Marlin Marine and Bayshore Marina alongside his son, Loran. Together, they grew these businesses into the successful and well-respected companies that they are today. George had many loyal and loving employees. No matter how tough he was on them, and we all know how tough he could be, they held him in extremely high regard. He served as a father figure, with many of them calling him “Dad.”
George was a passionate man with a big personality, and his undeniable charm had a way of drawing people in. He was full of generosity, love, and laughter and was beloved by many, near and far. As family and friends gather together to remember him, there is certainly no shortage of stories to share. Just as he always did, he will continue to put smiles on all of our faces.
George is survived by his wife, Sue; his two children, Jennifer O’Sullivan and husband Jerry, and Loran Pyfrom; his granddaughters, Alana and Kelsey Pyfrom, and Caroline O’Sullivan; his sister, Ethelyn Lowe and husband, Ronnie.
Instead of flowers the family request that donations be sent to St. Matthew's Day Care Center For The Aged, P.O. Box N. 963, Nassau, in memory of George Loran Pyfrom IV.
