Funeral Service for
Jack William Edward Sands
of Blair Estates, Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas, who passed away at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, Florida on Monday, 17th February, 2020 will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, George Street, Nassau on Saturday, 29th February, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
Jack W. E. Sands was President, Treasurer and Director of Betty K Agencies Ltd.; President and Director of Betty K Agencies (USA), LLC; Vice President, Secretary, and Managing Director of Kelly’s Lumber Yard Limited; President and Director of Import Export Brokers Limited; President and Director of Dorick Navigation SA, and; Secretary and Director of Rovert Properties Limited.
He was immediate past Chairman of the Board of APD Limited, and formerly served as Director on the Boards of Bahamas First Holdings Limited, Nassau Underwriters Agency Limited, and Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation.
The Very Reverend Harry Bain, Dean of Nassau, Rector of Christ Church Cathedral, assisted by The Venerable Keith N. Cartwright, Archdeacon of the Southern Bahamas and The Turks & Caicos Islands and Rector of St. Agnes Parish Grant’s Town, New Providence, The Very Reverend Patrick L. Adderley (Retired) and The Reverend Chitan Thompson, Assistant Curate, Christ Church Cathedral will officiate and interment will be in The Columbarium, The Garden of Remembrance, Christ Church Cathedral, George Street, Nassau.
He was predeceased by his parents C. Kingsley Sands and Phyllis S. Sands.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) A. Sands; three daughters, Karen Sands Byko and her husband, Rob Byko, Deborah (Debbie) Sands McDonald and her husband, John McDonald, Nancy Sands Cartwright and her husband, Paul Cartwright; three grandchildren, Jack and Isabella Cartwright and Jonathan McDonald; one aunt, Kathryn Sands; a sister, Daisy Roberts; a brother, Clarence (Junior) Sands and his wife, Loree Sands; a brother-in-law, Rolfe Harris; sisters-in-law, Lucille Sands and Janet Harris Padman and her husband, Bob Padman; many nieces and nephews and special friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be sent to the Cancer Caring Centre, P.O. Box SS 6539, Nassau, The Bahamas or the Bahamas Humane Society, P.O. Box N.242, Nassau in memory of Mr. Jack William Edward Sands.
