Frank Rutherford Close to be named in his honour
AS he was reflecting on having the Frank Rutherford Close named in his honour, Bahamian icon Frank Rutherford said he owes a great debt of gratitude to his former coach Neville Wisdom for his achievement as the first Bahamian to win an Olympic medal in track and field.
Rutherford promises ‘not kept for 30 years’
NEARLY 30 years since Frank Rutherford brought home a Bronze medal in the triple jump event from the Olympics at Barcelona, Spain he said he has not received any of the rewards he was promised.
Olympic glory - from whence it started
IT was on August 3, 1992 in Barcelona, Spain when Frank Rutherford clinched the first track and field medal for the Bahamas at the Olympic Games. His bronze medal in the men’s triple jump helped to propel so many athletes to attain that lofty goal of ascending on the podium of the greatest sporting event in the world.
