Govt funds for BPL to avoid price rise?
Works and Utilities Minister Alfred Sears says the government will have to provide a subsidy to BPL if the company is to avoid raising electricity costs on the Bahamian people.
Sears – no decision on power pricing change
WORKS and Utilities Minister Alfred Sears yesterday said no decision has been made to increase electricity bills, however he urged Bahamians “to be more prudent” with usage given high energy costs.
Sears: I’m not involved with WSC operations
WORKS and Utilities Minister Alfred Sears says he is not personally involved in the operations of the Water and Sewerage Corporation, however, he is confident the utility provider’s board of directors will handle any issues and turn them over to the proper authorities if needed.
Inflation could hit BPL bills
AMID concerns of soaring inflation and rising fuel prices, Works and Utilities Minister Alfred Sears said “there is always the possibility” of an increase in Bahamas Power and Light bills due to external factors.
