Why dont these politicians find other ways to fund these outlandish schemes.Do what you were voted into office to do. Bring more jobs into the country so people dont have to depend on government. I
have to work for my money. Leave it alone !
Kinda silly to ask if people would be "happy" with a salary deduction. I don't think anyone is "happy" about it. On the other hand, we are a nation of just swallowing whatever is thrown our way (even more so when it's "our party" throwing it at us) so I could be wrong...
You denied my wife Brigitte Carey a vote because we share the same IP address. We have separate computers and are both Bahamians. This is to do with the NHI 2% tax. Please allow her the vote.

We all hate taxes - whatever it's called. At the end of the day government collects revenues to cover its costs. Corruption aside, we can't expect to not pay for services rendered. The expectation is that the more we pay, the more/better services we receive. We can't have it all ways.
Take a look at this table of tax as % of GDP - Bahamas is way down the list at 18.7% (Canada 31.7%, UK 34.4%, US 26%, EU 35.7%).
If people think 2% is too much, consider the cost of private healthcare.
Just look at the stew that the Government finds itself in with the public service & corporation Unions who negotiated a CBA with a private insurance coverage plan ........... Many months behind with premiums etc. for probably no more than 30,000 members.
Now imagine managing for 400,000 Bahamians ............... $$$$$$$$$$ chaos
How much more do they expect the poor people to endure.
They are not helping us any, just themselves to our money!
This government is a huge disappointment...so sorry for those who rocked
with DOC!
None of yinna een see what is going on here aye? Yinna paying for free health care right now . . .right? Those parts of health care that government don't pay for is done by private health facilities. . .to the tune of hundreds of million per year. . .out of yinna private pockets. . .or off one cook out! Now government saying that gee them about one and half millions out of yinna already hundred of millions coming outta yinna pockets and they will take care of all yinna medical bills. . .again, saving yinna rich peoples with lil bit of money in ya pockets!!
