Baha Mar sues China State Construction in UK High Court
The Bahamas and her citizens are the only ones who will lose in this situation. Once again our leaders backed the mega resort when we should have gone the Eco-resort route. Ego seems to be one of our major downfalls. Lets hope this situation does not totally melt down and we are left with another Coral Harbour type situation. Also the developers better put in some top notch anti-theft measures, certain sectors of our society will strip that land bare in a heart beat if they do not.

How does a nation with such a small population boast such horrible exam results? It is an embarrassment and probably the fodder of much laughter by other countries with much larger populations and lower GDP but produce a better educated citizen. Every politician since Independence should hang their head in shame. This is the primary contributor to the crime problem in this country and it is just getting started. Keeping people ignorant to feed them lies for a vote gets ugly when the ignorant cannot work and want all the bling they see on their TV.

I would bet that they have very little idea of the history of Junkanoo or it's evolution into the parade it is today. They just know it's a party that they are supposed to participate in and that it started a long time ago.

Christie and Mitchell stress the importance of PM’s Office
These are the rantings of a wannabe Supreme Dictator. This is a democracy. Respect is earned, not required. The majority of Bahamians didn't even vote PLP and even the ones that did only voted for their MP. The PM is simply the leader of the party with the most seats. He has the same, one vote, in parliament as the rest of the MP's and is not a dictator who gets to make all the decisions. While his office holds some prestige, his actions dictate how much respect or criticism he is entitled to.

Pindling did business with drug dealers and Christie sold out to the Chinese. Why would any self respecting Bahamian respect either of these two men? Answer that Tal.

Question: Tal, why are the yellows so corrupt. Tal Answer: The reds were a lil corrupt too.
Question: Tal, why can't the yellows tell the truth. Tal Answer: The reds told lies sometimes too.
Question: Tal, why is it dark at night? Tal Answer: It was dark at night when the reds were in power as well.
This is pure comedy. Cannot stay on topic without bringing up the FNM. But the most hilarious phrase is Swindling's long and difficult journey to remake the Bahamas. Look around. He sure remade it all right. We were the most civilised, educated, literate and law-abiding people in the Caribbean Basin. And now, we have truth deniers like you, and we shoot people while they are buying breakfast, and ... oh by the way... we have sold ourselves to the Chinese, who are racist against Blacks. Yes, thank God for the piss yellow. I am voting for them for the first time (even though my cousin was AG for them), because the only way to hurry and end this misery, is to give them full reign to blow this country apart completely, so that even the stupidest PLP partisans, will revile their party, as long as there is a Bahamas on this earth.

Well done. The AG and PLP seem to think that it's only a conflict after an impropriety.

It is time we had more "straight talking, tell it as it is" Members of the House of Assembly. Mr. Rollins is definitely one of these, and is playing an indispensable role in Bahamian politics....Out with the Old...in with the New!!

These people are so unbelievably naive.
When you liquidate a business and sell the assets, you render all existing contracts void. All of the currently signed up hotel operators will need to renegotiate terms from scratch with Baha Mar's new owners. So even if the property is completed, there will be no one operating it - unless the Chinese decide to operate all of the hotels and casino themselves.
And which US companies are going to make major commitments to the Bahamas after the way Sarkis has been treated by the Government.

Roberts: Baha Mar resort will still open before end of year
Yes Russell, Bahamar was a bad idea from the get go. The reality now is that there is no other option except to try and open the project in good faith and in a timely fashion. I think most people can agree with that. However, the deplorable manner in which the PLP has dealt with this whole controversy, including the revelations that certain members of the party have conflicting interests with the resort, has cast a dark shadow on the whole thing. Of course Perry Christie doesn't want the PLP to talk about Bahamar anymore. The more the PLP talk about Bahamar, the more Bahamians find out just how much him and his party are screwing up. They are all over the place. When you've got members of the same party speaking with different voices, the best thing the PLP can do, in Perry's opinion, is to say nothing at all. You call that good governance?

Rigby: Conflict claims against Minnis ‘nonsense’
Let the PLP attack Minnis for this and even bring him down. That is fine. The moment they apply the beneficial owner of the company standard to declarations and disclosures, then the entire PLP government will fall, as the courts will be forced to apply the standard equally and every single one of these senior PLPs is similarly corrupt and has contracts with the government through shell companies. That is how they rape us and that is how they have done so for years. It would be great if they actually indict Dr. Minnis for failure to disclose as it would set a precedent and then they themselves, the entire Cabinet and most of the PLP party, would also be indicted for countless transgressions over the years. This is a great moment for the Bahamas. Dr. Minnis, please, fall on your sword and bring down this entire rotten corpse we call Parliament. Our entire government is a Conflict of Interest.

Sarkis: Government has chosen perilous path
You my dear, confuse me with someone else. I do not drive by with my boat. I did not make the comparison to Sandals. That was someone else. I know not who, but it is searchable with just a few minutes of looking through the comments.
I have no idea why you are fixated on this dock, but if I were the owner of a mega resort, with fancy restaurants, I would put in a very large dock, so that the high rollers could take the tenders from their luxury yachts and pull up for lunch at a fancy restaurant.
A couple of years ago, while visiting a rich client in Ocean Club Estates, he invited me aboard his tender, and we went to the Green Parrot at Hurricane Hole for a cheeseburger in Paradise with a beer.
It felt rather posh to come down the harbour in a boat, land at the marina and eat a meal.
Edit: The person who drives by the dock on their boat, is a user by the name of "Sickened". You will find that post a few up from here in the replies. I wish that I had a boat, but Auntie needs a wheelchair, cousin needs an education, and I am the only one in the family with a good job. Mama needs new glasses after getting swing from a local eye doctor an tings, and I can't afford a boat.

Wow...this is testimony to our PM's thinking. There's the issue of derelict vehicles and his first idea is to ban inexpensive cars as if newer ones are affordable for the general public...Can you say out of touch?
