No - Bran is correct. You can see the wrench in the spokes already by our Court ruling today that prevents Baha Mar from paying its employees any salaries.

Things are going to get ugly and complicated.

Time will linger on.

Bran will be proven correct on this one.

The hotel could have been saved (maybe) if our Govt did not interfere in the Ch. 11 process - which Mr. Irzmirlian had worked out a strategy to keep paying staff and get new financing.

However, now that all international financiers can see that they can have no assuredness of anything when dealing with our Govt. - they will run for the hills - or should I say ... Cuba (they have hills down there actually.)

Cobalt 9 years, 2 months ago on Bran 'disgusted' after Nottage blamed judiciary for crime problem

Why is everybody so quick to discredit Bran and his party??? Given the current status of our country and the fact that the Bahamas continues to regress, it's obvious that the Bahamas needs a new government. Don't forget that Branville McCartney and the DNA had a great influence on the last general elections! The DNA has and continues to reinforce the consensus that many Bahamians are completely fed up with the PLP and the FNM!

The current state of the Bahamas and the manner in which our country continues to spiral out of control is proof that both governments have failed. In my opinion, the only component that the DNA seems to be missing is more influential Bahamians, competent and knowledgable enough, with the guts and honesty to govern. If Branville had forty more men or women like him, I would definitely vote DNA. Think about it....... can Bran really be any worse that Perry or Hubert??? It bothers me that the Bahamas has yet to see a leader who's not a PLP! Pindling, Perry Christie, and Hubert Ingraham ALL served as PLPs!! After falling out with Pindling, both of them left the PLP. But Perry returned some years later, while Hubert ran to the FNM! In doing so, Ingraham brought the same bull-headed, dogmatic tactics he learned under the Pindling regime, to the FNM!

Bahamians need to get serious and send a clear message to both the FNM and PLP that we are unsatisfied and DONT have to put up with either of them any longer! We should at least consider giving the DNA at least five years to govern and implement their ideas. In the meantime this will send a clear and blatant message to the PLP and the FNM while simultaneously allowing the old guards of both parties to fade into obscurity. And hopefully by the end of the DNA's time in office both PLP and FNM would have initiated new blood into each their parties. Bahamians need to smarten up and use the democratic process to take our country back from these clowns.

Oh geez.

I can truly see why the national GPA is an F. People like you have a mental block when it comes to comprehension. My above mentioned post simply suggests that the DNA does not have ENOUGH competent people at this time to contend for the government. But that can all change if Branville solicited the assistance of the right people. I wasn't saying that their current members are not competent. I was saying that their issues are more quantitative than qualitative. My comments weren't meant as an indictment against the DNA nor am I pushing their agenda. My focus is more concentrated on sending a direct message to the FNM and PLP.

Some of y'all Bahamians so dumb man. Pick up a few history books and read sometimes. Maybe that'll improve your intellect and understanding.

Emac 9 years, 7 months ago on Branville McCartney formally accepts PM's debate offer

@Tal-Please state the alternatives. The PLP is certainly not an effective government, the FNM is swishy, swashy. If the only problem you have with the DNA is that they need to elect a leader democratically then that's fine. But please do not assert that the PM should not accept a debate by a "non-elected party leader." Who do you think the prime minister is? God? The prime minister should be questioned and challenged by all and sundry, anytime, anywhere and at any cost. It is thinking like this that has the PLP where it is today, riding on a high horse not giving a dam about its employers, the Bahamian people. I believe that the DNA can be a great alternative once they hold a proper convention and iron out some kinks. After all, this party is the one that cost the FNM to lose the last general election. So be careful about what ya say. The hard truth is a lot of people are fed up with both major political parties.

My God!!! How could any PLP talk about taking advantage of vulnerable people? They have been taking advantage of the gullible ignorant population for years. Dam dred! At least be fair in your statement. On the other hand, I did comment about how the demonstrators didn't seem to look sincere in their quest for fighting for democracy in the Bahamas. We as Bahamians need to admit that we are not a people who like to come together as a force for anything that truly is important to us. Perhaps the last effective demonstration was the Burma Road Riot? Other than that, as the first prime minister once stated that we weren't together when we got off the slave ships and still aren't together even now. True words coming from the most corrupt former leader in the hemisphere.

Cobalt 9 years, 1 month ago on FNM welcomes Leonard Sands as a member

But the FNM won't solve any of our critical issues either. As a matter of fact, they're the reason that we're stuck with the PLP now!

Bahamians couldn't wait to vote out the FNM in 2012. Now all of a sudden we're assuming they're the answer???? This is the textbook definition of insanity. Why would you spit out a rotten apple, only to start chewing a rotten pear.... only to find out that you don't like the rotten pear either, so now you're back to eating the rotten apple??? Does this make sense to you??? No disrespect, Wideawake..... but you seem like a staunch FNM supporter. Only people who stand to benefit directly from either one of these parties support them as blindly as you do.

Cas0072 9 years, 1 month ago on POLITICOLE: You won’t vote for Bran because . . .

This column makes uncomfortable observations about our society and voting behaviors, which I believe many people will be forced to re-examine if the country continues on this downward spiral. It is also a believable assessment as to why Mr. McCartney’s “arrogance” is perceived as so much worse than that of other politicians. If voters find the needed push to let go of the shallow reasoning that they use to inform their votes, I hope that the DNA is capable of rising to the occasion. In light of their responses to the many recent national controversies, it feels like we can count both opposition parties among those whom this column described last week as seeing a campfire while the country is going up in flames.

StrongProudloudandfnm, WHERE IS THE DISLIKE BUTTON FOR YOUR COMMENT? There was a clear contradiction in the view you presented. If 'nothing' was accomplished and the DNA's candidates were a "joke" in everyone’s view, Bahamians would have not voted to support the endeavor and the "success" you later identified would have not resulted. You are still BITTER from the loss of your party and should be ashamed to support an organization left in Shambles after even your leader nearly lost his seat and left the 'fire'. Some Proven Leadership huh? The FNM should have spent more time investing in hearing the concerns of the people and boasting the faith of constituents; rather than watching the "one man band" preform and talking about holograms..... Get Serious!

Mr. Humes, the DNA is doing a phenomenal job. I'm in Ft. Charlotte, 20, and I believe in you. Keep up the exceptional work sir..... Emphasis

Now the FNM is looking more and more like the PLP every day. The PLP routinely ignores its own Party's Constitution, so do you think they would really pay attention to the nation's Constitution or its laws? The FNM is now ignoring its own Constitution and also did so when it held its last convention...you know the rest.

And these comments are evidence of why this country wont change a lick. We say we want fresh faces with fresh approaches but that is a lie, because as soon as a new or young Bahamian decides to take the step to offer themselves, we look for every reason in the world - many illogical or hypocritical - to tear them down. As much as we talk a pseudo-good game, we really do want what we now have, we just like the sound of our own voice when we talk pretending as though that's not what we want.
