The Wicked Witch praises the Chinese general contractor while making derogatory remarks about Sarkis Izmirlian every chance she gets. She maliciously claims Sarkis has sullied the reputation of the Bahamas but most Bahamians know that no one has ever or will ever besmirch our country and embarrass us more than Maynard-Gibson. This scornful and spiteful woman exudes almost as much evil as the devil himself.

This is disgusting. If anyone was on the fence concerning where the government has placed its support, well it is evident now they are in the Chinese corner. This is a hostile takeover of a private business by the Chinese and the government of The Bahamas. Good luck with FDI from anywhere but China. Brand Bahamas is once again in the mud. Our leaders are handing the Cubans a bonanza. Why is it the PLP ALWAYS seems to screw the Bahamian people with utter glee. These guys are like a cancer! Why must they always go to the dark side. Drugs, Corruption, Crony's, anything negative to do with governance and the PLP is front and center! It is time to cut this cancer out of Bahamian politics, once and for all!

DEDDIE 9 years, 4 months ago on UPDATED: Attorney General praises contractor

Amateur hour. Under are system the Attorney General has tremendous influence over the operation of the judiciary. She may not have direct control over judges but she exerts tremendous influence over the process. We know that the government have sided with the Financiers and the Construction Company but it is absurd to put it in writing. Take for instance, Atlantis, 99% of the population don't even know who the financier was or who build it.

A very sad day for the Bahamas. The government and the people who elected them should be ashamed of themselves and the legacy of this decision will live on.

The way this woman has been treated by Bahamian authorities is nothing short of shameful, whatever happened to a person being innocent until proven guilty? Why should she not be granted bail when we have dozens of young Bahamian hoodlums some charged with multiple murders running loose on bail, some with ankle bracelets some without, but most of them continuing to commit murder & mayhem in the community. What reason then to treat this woman so spitefully other than some small minded bigots wanting to rub a wealthy white woman's nose in the crap.

ThisIsOurs 9 years, 4 months ago on CCA Bahamas believes swift resolution could see Baha Mar open for winter season

In other words, despite all of the substandard construction work reported, we are here to stay, Bahamar's request that we be removed is non-negotiable. If Sarkis would just hand over control and walk away, like China Exim and PM Christie have neatly worked out, we could complete.

This is one messy horse the PM has bet our treasury dollars on. Another one.

CCA had their chance to show the world they where ready to build in the big league. Sadly they are not there yet. Time for they to hit the road and let Bahamians who know how to get things done finish the project. These jokers should never have been let in our country in the first place, Bahamians where 70% of the workforce at Atlantis and there where none of these roadblocks. Get, go, and be gone, let Bahamians who have pride do the rest!

Craig 9 years, 3 months ago on BAHA MAR LATEST: Government party flies home from China, no resolution

Why is the PM and his cohorts so hell bent on ousting Baha Mar? Is it hubris or may out of control ego? Perhaps its pure ignorance and lack of understanding of the real situation. Baha Mar wants CCA out and I can understand why. CCA is yet to prove they are wiiling or able to complete the project. They are main reason the resort isn't open yet. Its amazing to see the PM, AG and others in the government glazing over that fact. Let the local contractors complete the project.

The government has no power in this. They are doing what they are told by the Chinese bank. They were bought and now they have no sway in the negotiations except to back their benefactors.

Why hasn't the Govenment responded to Baha Mar's offer if putting in another $200m and ousting CCA, replacing them with Bahamian contractors. If they supported this, they could easily push CCA and China ExIm do do a deal in the same way they have been pushing Baha Mar.

Wow -- a banana republic -- what happened to free speech? Note to foreign investors -- criticise the government and they will take your assets and force you to leave. Have we not one statesman in the government? Even my staunch Fox Hillian friends are saying that Fweddy has to go, as well as the PLP.

The supreme irony is that Fweddy wants to kick Izmirlian out for telling the truth. Fweddy's moral compass is so screwed, that he and the Truth are complete strangers.

This is outrageous. Fine disagree with Sarkis but to say that you will kick him out of the country is not right. The government is already looking at seizing the hotels. Wouldn't you be a bit pissed off if someone came and was about to take +/- $750M from you?

Bahamian_in_London 9 years, 3 months ago on Mitchell to Sarkis: Conform or leave

What a disgrace.

The Foreign Minister wants to talk about evicting someone who has invested 13 years and $900m into the Bahamas, because he disagrees with the Christie's attempt to nationalise Baha Mar? Can he explain how Sarkis is not acting "in the public interest". What he means is he is not acting in the PLP's interest.

Apparently expatriates should also be sent home as “They criticise the politics of the country."

The leader of the free world, President Obama, is criticized constantly, but somehow Christie is above criticism to the extent someone is threatened with deportation?

Apparently “money does not buy our silence and our subservience.”, unless it comes from the Chinese I guess. I haven't heard a single PLP minister complain about CCA, the sole reason why the resort is not open.

Mitchell and Roberts just stop it with your stupid comments! There you go, doing what you are best at, threatening people that dare speak of your incompetence. There’s more us now seeing clearly now. Was once a fool, but no more! No one believes in you anymore, get it? The young people are opening their eyes! Beware, because once their eyes are opened, you are in BIG trouble, mister! Your gov’t has been too busy stealing and going to parties to take the time to look around at the desperate state of our people. You all don’t even throw us a crumb unless we walk the party line! Now you want to talk about Bahamian or not. You should be ashamed of yourself, using us as pawn in your crooked game. You are not Bahamian, you are PLP and that does not equate, not in your current diseased mental state. You want respect for PGC, there is nothing there to respect, he has disgraced the title, he has disgraced our country and we are all in this mess because bad leaders, starting with LOP. I’d say you just don’t have the mental capacity to understand the harm you are doing but it’s been proven that the reason for the disgrace found in our government is greed, solely greed! You know you can get away with it because your disgraced LOP has sadly been your guiding force. Poor you…it’s all you know, to lie, steal, threaten and grab it all for yourself. A sad, sad shame the path our beloved Bahamas is being led to.

Bahamian_in_London 9 years, 3 months ago on Expat staff at Baha Mar hotel set to be pulled out of the Bahamas

What a ridiculous situation. Sarkis was willing to put another $70m in to the development to make sure everyone got paid, but the PLP intervened and prevented this so 'employees could not be used as pawns'.

Then they decide to not pay the expats, resulting in one of the brands leaving - the others will no doubt soon follow. By the time we get to the 19th August liquidation hearings, there will be nothing but a shell left to liquidate - all the operating contracts will have disappeared and it will take another 2 years to find new operators.

Well done Christie, you and your team of incompetents have single handedly destroyed any chance of Baha Mar opening in the near term and no doubt dissuaded any foreigner from making a substantial investment in the Bahamas for the next decade.
