LOL! I'd buy from the FMN lemonade stand before buying from the current clowns. That said, this is just another lame effort of PGC to avoid dealing with the real issues at hand. The FNM (or any other party than the PLP) will be ready to govern in 3 long years -- if there's anything left to govern after the current clowns get done.

Comrades no animal should be caged .... much less bought and often imported from some Puppy Breeding Mill. Truth is the BHS have since the 1960's been viewing on Super 8 mm homemade movie film format, the mistreatment evidence of the abuse handed out to the Horses pulling our tourist buggies around Nassau town. BHS seem be better skilled at reacting to animal abuse than they are at being proactive at preventing and stopping it in its early stages. Why were the puppies left in the store's cages and not removed by BHS? Like a lot of institutions in Bahamaland, maybe the time has come to demolish the present day BHS and begin afresh with new people?

In the Bahamas this is still poverty wages with the high cost of living, good luck raising a family on that.. Wages are to far out of touch with cost. Cost must be addressed.

"The annual minimum wage for civil servants increased from $10,700 to $11,500".

It is no wonder the civil service is so corrupt...How can anyone survive on $221.00 weekly?

Yes Sheeprunner12, that is correct but a loaf of bread is not $5-6 dollars and a jar of peanut butter is not almost $8.00. in those countries. Nor do they have to deal with the inflating cost of housing, even a broke down house in the ghetto in Nassau run u $50000 to buy. Don't even think about adding electric and other utilities. Now factor food and clothing for yourself and kids. $11500 equals poverty. Many have older family members retired from Government work and u end up having to make up the difference financially.

Where did you get that Mitchel is a "US hater"? If anything he loves the US more than anyone in this country, he keeps flying there every other day. I'm surprised he hasn't applied for US citizenship yet.

There is 1 (ONE) PLP supporter on these pages, that is obviously birdie - I will give them 3 years to prove themselves JUST LIKE I GAVE THE FNM who I voted for and who by the way waited until RIGHT BEFORE ELECTION 2012 to begin most of the promises they made. Unbelievable how naive some of you are, the FNM is just as corrupt and crooked and had many people greasing their pockets for their own agendas - this FNM crap rag just never reported it. If you are so upset over this Nygard thing, then I hope that means you will not be voting PLP or FNM in the next election, cause they are both EXACTLY THE SAME.

You've got it This is Ours. The serving government and all it's supporters on these pages, never respond to the open, obvious, factual reports of total incompetence or worse.

The response is always, well the FNM was bad too, or the U.S. is not perfect either.

What does that have to do with it? By the way, lets get real, the FNM and the U.S. have had their many faults, no reasonable person would deny that, but in contrast with the stark, embarrassing, incompetence and dare we say it, total corruption that has been visited on the Bahamas over the past two years, there is no apt comparison.

There is more than something "rotten" in the Bahamas and the smell has now reached worldwide. Watch this Nygard matter closely. Someone who supports the PLP in these pages give me an explanation, other than gross corruption, for the government climbing into bed with that guy and supporting his environmental depredations. The FNM tried to stop him, so he went out and purchased the opposition. What Bahamian interest is being served there?

Seriously now, is there no way around this foolishness? How about the government try to collect all outstanding real property taxes? Investigate how all these politicians got rich so quickly and confiscate what you know they didn't get cleanly? And go back for that, way back in time cause God only knows how some of these people got to be millionaires. Confiscate all funds and assets from known and convicted drug dealers, including the wealth hidden in their lover's, family and friends names? What about stop paying double pension, bringing people out of retirement and paying them exorbitant consultancy fees, cease with wasting out national insurance funds by buying your friends derelict buildings with our money? What about making use of existent government space like the entire first floor of the deGregory building in Freeport rather than renting out of a sitting Minister's brother's building (after moving from another government building at NIB) or buying one that is settled in water whenever it rains, like the one that the gaming board in Freeport was placed in? When are you going to put country above self? We are hurting, Mr. Prime Minister! Get your act together and be fiscally responsible and lead! Why must we suffer to support the greed of a few? You always talk about your legacy. What do you think this VAT crap will do to that?

birdiestrachan 10 years, 3 months ago on 'Big disaster' fear as VAT not best fit

Many people in the Bahamas can not afford house insurance at this time and it has nothing to do with VAT, and there is a tax on those bills at this present time. The insurance companies feel they will make less money. and that is their only fear.
