You may have your fault with religion and that is OK, but what Dr. Monroe said didn't come from a religion point of view. Christians speaking up against gays or gambling and don't back it with a legal point is just their point of view. Take this scenerio, you have a business and I'm an employee of yours, are you paying me to speak about my personal convictions while on the clock?

Moss and Rollins are shouting out now because they have nothing to lose - the ship is going down and they are attempting to distance themselves from the worst decisions of the Party in the hope that it might make them more credible and possibly attractive to a re-energized FNM in a few years' time. Neither have impressed these last two years and so I think they are wasting their time. There is nothing wrong with leadership challenges in healthy democratic parties. The PLP leadership is stitched up now with no one able to challenge the resident incumbent Perry Christie. What an absolute farce! It is really sad that at a time when the country needs a dynamic younger party leader who is not afraid to lead, the PLP is stuck with an aging politician whose leadership appears hopelessly compromised and who is more concerned with his legacy than actually taking the tough decisions that the country desperately needs to be taken. The FNM appear to be rudderless in opposition although it must be hard for Minnis with so many of the faithful still hankering for the return of Papa. I hope to God that Papa stays in retirement. He has fought the good fight, made mistakes as every leader does but he has had his time. The Bahamas cannot endure yet another Ingraham v Christie election campaign. It is time for PGC to retire along with his old friend Hubert and leave the running of the country to the best of the rest. This is where it gets worrying. Who amongst the rest can be trusted to run this country? The best true leaders in our country have no desire to enter politics for fear of being tainted by corruption and the corrupt practices of the system. This is the system that Michael Halkitis wants to see perpetuated i.e. No need for politicians to adhere to the Public Disclosure Act. Bahamas, someone has to step forward and soon to lead us through the many perils facing this small country. These are difficult times but hopefully "cometh the the hour, cometh the man"

That's why I said it's worrying - there are no obvious candidates in either party at the moment.

Honestman 10 years, 9 months ago on Miller says he was joking over abuse of women

It is so sad that the Honorable Leslie Miller should so disrespect the House and bring proceedings down to gutter level by his lack of understanding of what it means to be a Parliamentarian. With the country having so many major issues to confront at this time, Members of Parliament should be focused on debating the real issues of the day and not be side tracked by some classless fool who wants to come over as "Jack the Lad" in front of his raucous cronies. This was the House of Assembly for God's sake, not some over the hill public bar! Regardless of the venue, Miller's comments in the House, whether said in jest or not, were totally unacceptable and represents an attitude towards women that is from the dark ages. I didn't expect any comment from PGC but shame on the women PLP parliamentarians for not speaking out on this. Finally, a note to the electorate of Tall Pines - look for a "pedigree" to represent you at the next election. You can never trust the behavior of a "pot cake"!

To the Honestman commentator above: YOU FAIL TO REALISE THE THE DISASTEROUS IMPLICATIONS OF MAKING IT LEGAL FOR THE FNM AND PLP ALIKE TO OBTAIN FUNDING FROM THE CRIMINAL ENTERPRISES RUN BY THE NUMBERS BOSSES! THE FNM AND PLP PARTIES HAVE BROKEN JUST ABOUT EVERY ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING LAW THAT THEY THEMSELVES HAVE PUT IN PLACE AS A RESULT OF THEIR PROPENSITY TO ACCEPT THE WELL KNOWN PROCEEDS OF CRIME ASSOCIATED WITH THE NUMBERS BOSSES. Hubert, Christie and their cohorts need to be held accountable by the Bahamian people for their crimes and not given a free pass that will evidence to the world the decay and destruction of our now very fragile democracy. It's really all as simple as that!

The minister is talking about the church too much, it was the people of the Bahamas that voted in the referendum, not the church(es).

How did PGC chose Fred Mitchell as our country's chief diplomat? He is in a war of words with someone every other day and then he resorts to childish name calling. He needs to go to see the Dalai Lama so he be be guided in ways to purge 30 years of bitterness out of his soul.

To call Myles Munroe ignorant is ...I dunno...I'm dumbfounded. He may have a view diametrically opposed to yours but to call him ignorant is..in don't have the word. I don't agree with all of his approaches but I've heard him speak and he talks sense most of the time.

A vote of no confidence should occur with Mitchell, is he not the Minister in charge of immigration and Foreign Affairs.. Or is he the Minister of LGBT.. Last I checked illegal immigration was running ramped and a epidemic of lawlessness exist on our seas.. It would same that he should not have the time to take up this issue. Dr. Munroe is a private citizen he can say whatever and write whatever, Mitchell is prolonging this nonsense..

Stop letting your ignorance show, Dr. Monroe is known more around the world than any politician in the Bahamas. You might have your fault about him, but do some research before making such a silly statement.

JohnDoes 10 years, 9 months ago on Human rights group backs calls for LGBT equality

This Fred Smith guy is only looking for publicity. His run in with Koed Smith put him in the papers, and now he thinks he's ready for press releases. Nobody cares about you Fred Smith, it seems like all of you lawyers feel obligated for press releases. Is this a new trend in their 'field'? This is definitely not a major issue in this country. Its not like we go out harming LGBT's or threatening their lives. They live free just like everyone else here. They need to go and pressure the Arab states etc that actually put persons to death for it. To amend the Constitution on this issue before the other 'major' issues in this country would be complete insult to Bahamian people and it will only prove that the government does not have its priorities in order. Its like they prey on the 'weaker' governments to hopefully overthrow the ideas of the most powerful governments. This is a propaganda recipe for LGBT.
