Decision due to ‘breach of confidentiality’
Unfortunately this is bigger than PLP or FNM. Serious allegations were made against Cargill and an audit was performed to review these allegations which will cost the Bahamian people over a million dollars. Minister Gibson claims that the audit report substantiates the validity of the allegations against Cargill, yet Cargill was terminated by the NIB Board for breach of confidentiality, a charge that was not even investigated in the audit as far as I am aware. There is a major unsettling disconnection here and this actual opens up a whole new Pandora’s Box. Serious questions should now be raised about potential conflicts of interests, the terms of reference, the appointment and execution of this audit and its impact on why the NIB Board decided to disregard its findings. In addition to the questions above, Mr. Gibson should also be made to publicly explain the criteria that he used to select and appoint Grant Thornton and why after spending over a million dollars on this audit, the NIB Board totally disregarded and ignored its findings and conclusions. Further, the PM must now show the same vigor in investigating the charges against Mr. Gibson and Mr. Moss, otherwise he will be planting the seeds again that will eventually lead to the downfall of his party… again. This is a classic case of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. This audit appears to be just another case of blatant political patronage. Enough is enough, just as we should hold Cargill accountable where misfeasance can be independently validated, we must also hold the PM, Gibson and Moss accountable for wasting our money to enrich their family, friends and supporters.

Stray dog warning after Operation Potcake cancelled
I have no "dog" in this as I am just a local businessman who donate to several animal welfare groups as well as a dozen or more other local groups. For me right will always be right and the same for wrong. Having said that @Domin1 you continue to repeat the above, even when you yourself admit that you do not know it to be true. Your behavior begs the question why, but that is really not the point, at least for me. From reading the 274 posts one would read that the local vets agreed to perform surgeries for $30 per animal, provided vacines were supplied. When the new local vet officers were elected they decided to tell OP that foreign vets were not needed and to raised that fee to $50. In those posts local vets have repeated said that the $30/$50 was for re-imbursement for supplies. Having already seen a quote from the letter where the local vets state that foreign vets are not needed, below is a direct quote from the actual letter the local vets sent to OP dealing with the $50 fee, "Thirdly, in pledging our commitment to this undertaking, we have also agreed to acquire our own materials for OP, thereby providing you with more time to dedicate to other aspects of the planning. We can assure you that the best approach to the acquisition of our supplies would be best accomplished by each individual veterinarian, as sifting through the differences in personal preferences to materials can become exhaustive. Also, each veterinarian can make their own determinations of quantity of supplies, based on past experience, and the predicted number of animals that can be done by each person. With that said each veterinarian would like remuneration in the amount of $50 per animal after services are rendered, which we all agree is a nominal fee for our efforts. Not only will we acquire our own anesthesia, but ALL surgical and medical supplies will be provided by the local veterinarians. The financial climate in the country demands that we take into account the possibility that donation of our time to efforts like these can potentially create a negative impact on our practices, so it is only fair that while we do not seek to make a profit from an exercise as charitable as this one, that we do not ignore our own expenses, to our detriment." Please let's stop the duplicity and ex-poste shenanigan and put the focus where it needs to be which is on solving the stray dog/cat epidemic in this country.

Minnis issues warning after US man killed
It is interesting to see in three of the above comments that seem to also "Miss the boat". Dr. Minnis stated a fact that the PLP claimed they were and had the solution to crime. Did this happen? If it did and we all know it did, what is wrong with him stating that is indeed what happen?
Dr. Minnis pointed out to the fact that the when we start killing tourist it may have a direct consequence with regard to the tourism industry. Which is the way the majority of us Bahamians feed ourselves. Did he say the tourist life is any more important than a Bahamian life? So why impute it in what your issue is with what he said.
Before I move on, if Dr. Minsis had stopped and only pointed out that the PLP led government despite their pronouncements that they were and had the solution to crime. If Dr. Minnis had stopped there I would have a problem, but did he. No he in fact called all Bahamians to get involved.
Really, that is more than PLP ever did in opposition. Yet some of you seem to not take note of that and make the amusing statement if he is serious. I appreciate your political biases, but please at least put forward a better argument - than picking and leaving.
Jobs will not stop murder! Why do we not get it in our heads? We have a much deeper problem and that is poor parenting and socialization. However, we as a people do not want to face that reality because we like to point to 'solutions' that do not show that we the people are the blame.
If the Government was to hire more people or cause there to be greater investment and job creation all of a sudden the murders would stop. Then others want to blame foreigners for everything. Are you serious? Look in the mirror and look at our children! As if the problems is not how we train our children. We have always been a violent people. However, we have moved from rock and bottle - to cutlass and knives to the more deadlier guns.
Let's stop trying to stop playing and become better parents and bring up our children properly. otherwise all we would do is have employed murderers.
