This is a total disgrace. Leslie Miller should step down or be fired. Anyone with any self respect would not accept a salary for a job they cannot do. What a piece of garbage.

As for the power problems, this is quite obviously deliberate, every other Island Nation in the region can and does provide reliable power; so why not here?

Bahamian pride aside, our country is a joke in so many ways!

birdiestrachan 9 years, 3 months ago on Minnis: Come clean on any Baha Mar deals

Some one should ask Dr: Minnis what is connection with Cable Bahamas. Because he was lobbying for them very strongly on the house floor in regard to the cell phone license . Now every one knows Dr: Minnis can spin some tales. If Baha Mar did not run into trouble, no one would have known who had what. It is my view that politicians families have a right , to work and own business in the Bahamas, Now Mr; Brent Symonette case was different He was a part of the Government and he was awarding himself contracts. He would have seen every single bid and he was able to bid lower, an unfair advantage.

DEDDIE 8 years, 11 months ago on Munroe: Flog the immigrants

There are far more deserving floggees in this country than immigrants. The first grouping are lawyers who are politicians. We need to find someway of discouraging them from entering the halls of parliament. I think flogging will serve as both a physical and psychological barrier for crooked lawyers entering politics.

Is anyone going to specify why they are a "national security risk"? Or is that just code for ""national embarrassment risk" - someone needs to look further in to why Freddy is so scared of these guys specifically. This story has to run deeper...

Mitchell should be jailed for this or better yet haul his crooked ass before the International Court of Justice and charge him with the crimes that he has committed.

How do they pose a threat?

Maybe because their detention exposes the "Papa Doc" mentality of this government?

Comrade Mitchell cannot understand that he is not operating in his beloved Cuban paradise where his pals the Castro Brothers can toss anyone they wish into jail and simply throw away the key. He never produces evidence. He always makes sweeping accusations that these victims of serial injustice, pose a danger to the peace and security of the state. The same vague accusations that were hallmarks of Comrade Stalin's show trials in the 1930's. How can government continue to defend his totalitarian, xenophobic, hysteria. It is an international embarrassment.

Mr. Mitchell is a dangerous embarrassment now. He must be made to resign. He believes he is a law unto himself. The PLP is a disastrous government and must be removed at all costs. First Class Flying Freddy thinks he is Che Guevera or Fidel. Get from round here ya stink communist a$$! The Bahamas is not a communist country and we have laws. A Minister incapable of following those laws and enforcing the laws should be removed from office.

Fred Mitchell is an embarrassment and should resign. When will the attorney general bring human rights abuse charges against him? It seems he is the criminal in this sad affair! As we like to say he should shut up and sit small.

Poor Fred Mitchell is getting delusions of grandeur. He should be put in Fox Hill prison like his brother was. On the other hand, given his predilection for "incarceration attention" from more alpha prisoners, he just might like it and find a home there.

DillyTree 8 years, 9 months ago on Mitchell blasts critics yet won’t explain Cubans’ security risk

Fred Mitchell is a disgrace to this country and is a national embarrassment. Until he is fired and put out of sight like the crazy uncle in the basement, he will continue to make a fool of himself and the Bahamas.

We clearly don't have all the information (and probably never will), but what I can't figure out is that if these guys are Cuban, why aren't they just returned to Cuba? As Cuban citizens, doesn't Cuba have to take them back? Seems the simplest solution, or am I missing something here?

GrassRoot 8 years, 9 months ago on PM: Govt caught between a rock and a hard place over Cubans

This is another item Fred "Extraordinaire" Mitchell should bring up in front of the UN General Assembly: "We have to find a home for two illegal immigrants that we locked up with any due course and not bringing up any charges, against all common sense, basic human rights and conventions the Bahamas has signed. And I am the responsible member of the Cabinet."
