Bahamian people need to stop being loyal to parties for no reason. I agree with McCartney ! Lets have a debate ! Our leaders should never back down from an opportunity to share their views with the country. Why should we only listen to them when they are preaching to us in an attempt to gather votes? A debate will allow for a situation where remarks will be accountable.

While this is clearly a foolish/childish prank, it does not deserve the level of public outcry greater than that heard for the 11 yr old child that was shot with a gun. Our sensibilities are somewhat skewed--in our efforts to be humane, we are forgetting to be human. I am not ashamed of being Bahamian, we are a beautiful people and I believe in this country. Our civilities do not have to be 'borrowed' for our definition. It simply begins with good leadership and/or the restoration of those tried and proven institutions to be active in more meaningful and progressive way.

Mr. Bastian needs to read the legislation on gaming...his establishments receive money here in the Bahamas and pay out his customers here in the Bahamas...it is illegal. That's what we are really voting for in this "opinion poll"...To legalize ONLINE GAMBLING! You don't need 3000 employees for that, you don't even need 1 employee! Wake up Bahamians and vote NO!!!

JUst HOPE the numbers bosses don't be like Cable and Wireless/ BTC. AFter they snatch the company from the Bahamian people (for little or nothing) they gone from paying vendors $1.00 commission on a $5.00 card to 20 cents on a card.. people stand up in the rain, the sun and heavy traffic to make less on a $5.00 card than they could make sellin the tribune or a pack of peanuts! (or even selling numbers i guess) But yet BTC brag about how much they give away to junkanoo, and sports and charity and other things. So they taking the money from hard working Bahamians, who struggling to feed their families, pocketing some or most of it and giving lil bit away to make themselves look good in the public eye.. Now they trying to stop Bahamian businesses from selling cell phones with their crappy commercial that say if the phone aint bought from them it my not work..Why don't they tell the Bahamian people that cell phone service or internet with BTC aint been stable or reliable ever since C&W take over. .Dont let the web shop dealers do the same..

Why is our PM so dishonest? It took me almost three years to get my property tax bill. Here's my suggestion Mr. PM. Clean up the taxes we have now, get them paid in time and in full. Then after accomplishing that we can talk about new taxes. But until then we have no idea what revenues add up to and what we need to do to bolster them.

And the webshops claim to make 100 million per year. A Bahamian business license is based on revenues. So why are they not already paying 5 million a year for their business license? Get them up to date and paying properly, get us our money then let's talk about new taxes.

Mr. PM, if your opinion and belief, as clearly appears to be the case, is that the country will incur irreparable harm from a "No" vote, then as the leader of this country you have an obligation to discontinue the process of this opinion poll and have your government take the requisite Parliamentary action to legalise, regularise and tax the gaming industry or at minimum take a position based on your beliefs. As the PM your duty is to and for the greater good of the country and all of its citizens. These oblique statements about the consequences of a "No vote" that you continue to make are unbecoming of an elected leader.

And while collecting property taxes, stop allowing your family, friends and lovers to bring in whatever they purchase overseas duty free. Collect traffic fines and stop wasting the court's time. Park the government cars on holidays and weekends. Collect business licence fees or close those businesses down. Make your auntie in the straw market pay her rent. Stop wasting the people's money. There is too much slackness in this country. And by the way Mr. Prime Minister, stop trying to influence what happens on Monday. No horse in the race my foot.

"To excuse illegal behaviour because it is supposedly too expensive to counter is unconscionable. To excuse illegal behaviour because it creates employment is inexcusable, and to excuse illegal behaviour because some believe that it will bring additional revenue to the Public Treasury is similarly inexcusable."

Spot on, Mr. Ingraham and I am not one of your fans.

Mr. Turnquest is absolutely correct. I'm appalled that they ordered him silent and that his related statements were expunged from the history books.

This is reiterating the point that the government, and yes that includes the office of the attorney general, failed to inform the public of the ramnifications of either vote.

Its unfortuante that politics prevents people from taking responsibility for failed actions.

Please refer to this well written unbiased article by a Bahamian.

The US travel alert is actually quite generous. And "national pride" about keeping the country clean?!? For a country so dependent on tourism, the Bahamas is filthy. The level of littering is appalling.

“Many criminals are brazen and do not hesitate to use deadly force when confronted.”

Dear Bahamian People, Do better. We are only as strong as our weakest link, criminal activity affects us all.

Also lets treat these islands as our home. Keep it clean! While littering is a huge problem of ours. It is not reassuring to see that most garbage bins are always filled to capacity. Can we please have an increase in garbage collection? Once every 2 weeks and sometimes longer is clearly not cutting it.

Whether it provides jobs or not it is still deemed illegal,The Commissioner is charged with upholding the law,i think he will do whatever is right,he did warn whoever is doing it to stop,so if anybody gets caught in a raid they were warned,as for the number guys,i dont feel sorry for them at all, they made lots of money off the backs of poor people, they say they donate to charities?Carifta was just held a few weeks ago ask if any of them donated a bottle of water!they are all for their greedy selves, some people squander every dollar they get in these ''houses''chasing a dream, because thats all it is,i heard some people state that numbers help them make ends meet?thats bullsh....t!if thats the case then we wouldnt had so many people complaining about losing all of their money, some put every dollar and lose it,week after week and this has been going on for couple of years well, the only person wins, the number man.
