I guess even a "white foreigner" has a right to an opinion. It's a shame most Bahamians will not heed it!

Fired for telling the truth -- only because a white foreigner dared to do so! So our National Average of D has changed? Typical denial. Wait until the Bahamas joins the WTO -- what a rude awakening for so many who are going to get left behind because they cannot compete on the world stage. Pathetic, RBC.

And while we're on this, RBC, quit advertising in the papers on how you want to build communities and provide excellent customer service. Let's talk about Long Island and no bank there -- this is not building communities. And let's discuss your horrible customer service. In fact, it's as if you don't even want people to actually come inside the bank anymore.

Why is this man being ostracized? TIM Rider's comments were true to the facts and everybody is up in arms!

Successive inept, corrupt, governments destroyed the Bahamian economy by failing to educate our people and stupidly replacing the Bahamian workforce with too many expat foreign workers that repatriate income which eroded spend in the local economy thereby crushing the volume of business available to the banking sector.

25 years of the asinine political stupidity of Hubert Alexander Ingraham and Perry Gladstone Christie "leadership" is the root cause of the collapse of the Bahamas!

These two prime ministers sold the country out to Haitians, Asians, Latinos, Jamaicans, Africans, Chinese and now Indians that have regulated the average Bahamians to mass unemployment and soup kitchen lines for survival.

The powers that be need to man up and make obvious changes to rectify unemployment and domestic spending to fix the economy and shore up the banking sector. It is no great surprise that the fastest growing business in the country is money transfer companies repatriating expat income to home countries while local bank business shrinks proportionately as Bahamians are no longer players in the employment arena and have no money to bank.

PM Minnis running from pillar to post attempting to create new job opportunities is a futile effort when all he needs to do is have Bahamians placed in short-term training programs to replace foreign blue-collar workers, which will have an immediate sustainable positive effect on the economy.

Getting rid of Mr. Rider will not resolve the main problem of too many people repatriating income out of the local economy.

TalRussell 8 years, 10 months ago on Paradise Island bridge fee rises to $2 for cars from March 1

Comrade "Sherlock Homes" ReverendRichLive of Tolls. In fact Paradise Island Bridge is but 600 feet in length from end to end. The New York Bridge crossing over to New Jersey is 5280 feet. Toll cost to cross over from New York is $15. If Paradise Island Bridge had been longer @ 5280 feet you would be paying a toll fee to cross over from Nassau to Paradise Island of $17.50

So true; though in this case they do not truly want an apology from the woman nor do they truly care about her thoughts or whether she is sorry or not - they are simply adding more stripes to her since she has foolishly made herself Minnis' whipping girl. This entire affair and the amount of public attention the FNM is dedicating to this instead of focusing on the nation and dealing with this matter within their ranks, is yet another testament to the tragedy the FNM has become.

This cannot be an internal matter because these non-PLP politicians will soon be coming to the public to be elected to Parliament and to form a government ........... they must be on ONE accord before they present themselves to the public ............ OR those of like mind should form whatever groups they wish ..... and may the best team (other than the PLP) win in 2017.

We cannot risk having this country run by the PLP beyond 2017 ........... that is a PRIORITY

Good point True .............. the post-independence generation of Bahamian politicians need to get down in Rawson Square on their knees and beg forgiveness for putting us on the slippery slope for national ruin since the mid 1970s ............ first up the remnant of the Old PLP guard led by AD Hanna, Perry and crew

Politicians always looking for apologies from each other.... when they gone apologize to the country for screwing it over?

Guess they too busy worrying about their hurt feelings and their chances for 2017. Little else seems to matter to them.

TruePeople 8 years, 9 months ago on PM: NHI is about saving lives, not winning votes

I find that the opposite of what this guy says tends to be the case.... take the headline and translate accordingly.

In all seriousness though. If it really was about saving lives, why the secrecy about key details, why the refusal to discuss with relevant stakeholders, why the rush to implement, why the rush to punish those who don't sign up? And now in the face of all that, hiring a secret foreign consulting company .... for ..... ????? well we don't know what for, because we're all out of the loop on this.

If this wasn't about election, then the FNM and PLP (and the DNA) would be working TOGETHER with the relevant stakeholders to introduce through stages a viable healthcare plan that would be able to not just function at the moment, but over the long term.

This guy keep bawling for us to 'trust' him. You been caught in ya lies too much and continue to obscure the truth, why the hell should we trust you? You think we stupid aye?

No graveyard humour in that Tal. The Governments chief medical officer himself admitted the $100 million wastage in this current budget but they can't say where the holes are.Economist is correct in pointing out how many more Bahamians could have been treated/cured with that money. Strange, but I never figured you for a Birdie type mentality.

Not turning your country into Haiti because you bankrupted your country's economy saves lives.

Over time, it saves way more than 700 lives per year. The real short term thinkers are those who trust the PLP. The PLP is the blind leading the blind into the abyss. The Bahamian people will only realize the depth of their betrayal when it is too late. The PLP have been running this country into the ground for 40 years. Everything they touch turns to s$%^! How long will it take the people of the Bahamas to catch on? D- country for real! There is no institution on earth that has done more harm to the people of the Bahamas than the PLP.

GrassRoot 8 years, 9 months ago on UPDATED: Minnis tries to throw out MPs

Well "respect" does not mean that people should follow him blindly. Respect means more that you can lose a battle and still be a trusted leader of the party. Technically that's what should be different at FNM vs. PLP. PLP is a dictatorship, fear based, not respect based. The issue at stake is that Minnis follows the PLP model. He should leave the party actually.

"If this is true.." is the point. If the FNM are keeping things in house, who leaked this information to The Tribune? Also, I am beginning to wonder if The Tribune reporters have their own bias against Minnis. Why run this story anyway? It is hardly newsworthy. Read this story in The Guardian; it sounds like a less biased report.
