Eleuthera calls bridge upgrade ‘waste of time’
I have crossed and visited the glass window bridge on calm days and rough days innumerable times, and many other bridges on 3 continents.
We're only dealing with a very small span. For the life of me, I cannot understand why it's so damn difficult to simply build a cantilever construction arch bridge with sufficient height that regardless of how rough the sea is the bridge and its users would not be affected!
Secondly, investing $35m in repairing the existing bridge is just beyond ludicrous. This doesn't make sense and totally fails the smell test.
Thirdly, ultimately, how will the bridge be paid for and MAINTAINED? In real countries bridges are paid for and maintained by charging users a minimal toll over time. If the plan is to make the bridge a "tourist destination", (and it's done properly) a toll should be used as a vehicle to pay off the bridge in a shorter period.

Damn Haitians want to turn our country into another Haiti for themselves.

The PLP doesnt have to do anything really, same as noone voted for Minnis in 2017 they voted against Perry. This time its the FNM that's dug its own grave. The only open question is whether its deep enough to bury them or they can somehow manage to dig themselves out. Time will tell.

If any Bahamian dont see or understand what Minnis is doing, they are completely lost. The PM is playing political games the which i have never seen in the Bahamas. Somewhere along the years this man has become power driven and even more corrupt than any PM before him. If he will go to these lengths to hang onto power, that should tell the people about his character as a man. This man has to be voted out! I really dont care if a fisherman runs this country, his shyt would smell better than what Minnis is cooking. Bahamians take charge of your future. Its not about FNM or PLP, its about Minnis thinking that he is almighty, and that the Bahamian people are stupid and blind.

The vaccine is completely free. If they don't want to get it then they can find somewhere else to work and pay for their own testing in the meantime. Businesses and countries absolutely can and should mandate the vaccine rather than catering to individuals who 'just don't want it'.

Quite right, and I think many are forgetting that minimum wage is just that, MINIMUM wage, which matches experience and qualification and is NOT the be all and end all of paid wages.. ...

Obviously this is just to excite emotions and rile up workers to false expectations. And unions are famous for doing this to garner support. Of course government is entertaining this idea right now because they know the disaster the 12% vat increase has created. Minimum wage was increased by 60 % just recently and to increase another 45% would double the minimum wage in less than ten years. The average increase in salaries and wages is under 10%.
SP 4 years, 5 months ago on Bahamas joins call for 'urgent debate on racism'
Bahamas joins call for 'urgent debate on racism'
Bahamianson analogy of local racism is a classic white Bahamian racist copout. His statement of "majority Black hatred against Whites here in the Bahamas" is 100% pure fictional fallacy that he cannot remotely begin to substantiate!
Racist white Bahamians cannot get over the fact they lost power to majority rule the same as racist white Americans cannot get over the fact they lost the Confederacy and the slave trade.
Identifying white Bahamian racist is always easy as they immediately try to justify their racism against black Bahamians by claiming black Bahamians hate Haitians. Why the hell would white Bahamians care if black Bahamians hated Haitians anyway? What is this strong bond between white Bahamians and Haitians that makes white Bahamians favor a foreign black Haitian to a black Bahamian citizen?
The first obvious observation is when dealing with white Bahamians the Haitian "knows his place". He will never question or stand up to "massah boss", and will always be happy, and subservient to the white Bahamian.
To quash another white Bahamian fallacy, black Bahamians do not hate Haitians as a people. However, black Bahamians absolutely do hate the multitude of socio-economic havoc Haitians are causing for black Bahamians.
White Bahamians are totally oblivious to, and not in the least affected by illegal Haitian migration supported by legal Haitians that erodes opportunities for black Bahamians for business opportunities, jobs, children's education, health care, and desperately needed social services. White Bahamians are also 100% insulated by Haitians stealing their family names to forge NIB identifications, birth certificates, passports, U.S. visas, etc'.
If 1 million Haitians migrated to the Bahamas today, white Bahamians would not be the least bit affected. Alternatively, black Bahamians would be 100% annihilated! Black Bahamians need for their very existence gives them every reason to be xenophobic of Haitians.
Regarding the idea that a "lot of rich Black hatred of so-called "Poor Blacks". The Bahamas is very guilty of the phenomenon known as "class discrimination", also known as classism, which is prejudice or discrimination on the basis of social class.
White Bahamians lost "visible" political power, however, they maintain a tight grip on financial power and still control the country from behind the scenes. The descendants of the same white families that controlled the country prior to majority rule, still control the country today!

Bahamas suing UK over slavery
Blacks are not racists, they just keep their guard up and don't trust no one. The Ku Klux Klan, who murdered thousands of blacks mostly, and many other white supremist and hate filled groups still lurk in the shadows even in this day and time waiting for an opportunity to strike. Just visit their sties on the internet and see the hate filled messages the spew out. and the threats they make. The NAACP and black colleges and other organizations can do little to repair what was done to Black people during 500 years of slavery and the almost 100 years of racial discrimination that followed it. How many millions of bodies were dumped in these same crystal clear waters of the Bahamas, as slaves died or became ill, or decided to fight for their freedom. Do their souls still cry out for justice and restitution? One must be truly ignorant to say that if Black people endured this for 500 years it does not affect those alive today. Remember Black people (who were slaves then) were discouraged from learning to read and becoming educated and some lost their lives or were lynched or maimed if they learned to read. But today when many Black kids have no interest in academics, they as labeled as dumb or afflicted with learning disorders ADD and AHDD . They say even cows know when they are on their way to the slaughter house. With hogs all they do is spread feed on the trail leading to the slaughter and they will eat. Sheep (like Christ) do not resist. They walk their way. With cows they fight all they way..go figure

Bahamas suing UK over slavery
You are always are keen on twisting the truth. First you say you know many phone card vendors (modern day slaves, non-white even) who are happy with what BTC is paying them, but to date you have failed t name one, much less three. You say that the reason why many corn and other grain products coming from the US have "for export" or "not to be consumed in the US", is for tax purposes, but now even high school students here in the Bahamas are being taught about the genetically engineered corn and being advised to stay away from it. Now you are trying to re-write history and say that more blacks were killed in Africa by fellow (Black) Africans than those that lost their lives in any other part of the slave trade. Well the reason why the "middle passage' of the slave trade was known as the 'deadly passage' was because so many Africans lost their lives in this crossing. When the ships neared the Bahamas and Caribbean slaves who were ill or emaciated were thrown over board like spoiled tomatoes. Remember Blacks were not considered humans at that time, and so the sick ones to the ship owner was just a commodity that went bad..So he tossed them to the sharks And the reason why slaves ships had to continue journeying back and forth to Africa during the 500 year slave period was because many slave were maimed, abused and mistreated during this time. Since they were not set free and the masters refused to feed any slave that was non-productive, mimed, or ill they were put to death. So even with the masters forcing them to breed like flies, they could not replenish slaves fast enough without having to go back to Africa.

Turn the Hospitals in Nassau, Grand Bahama, Exuma, Abaco over to an international entity, mandate that they provide medical care, specialty doctors and techs as well as the latest technology comparable to the US Canada or UK, beef up NHI so that all Bahamians can afford the care and not have to travel abroad.
Nurse Shortage- Put the nursing program back to an associate degree program, the Bahamas cannot catch itself waiting 6 years for Bahamian nurses to graduate from UB. Leave the bachelors degree for those wanting to promote.
