Hey, I'm all for it...sounds like a great idea...BUT!! The sad truth is that all the single mom's out there will get tagged with the penalties, because none of the fathers will admit that it is their child. You'll have to run through so many dang DNA (excuse the pun) tests and put all that before the court if you are going to try to pin any of the crime penalties on dear old no good dead beat dad. Who knows...maybe it will entice the ladies to keep their legs closed... Just sayin'...

What you need to do is... STOP BEING SO BIAS. The point of the matter is. The PLP promised to help MAJORITY of all home buyers. They said that BEFORE and AFTER the general elections. After doing some SERIOUS REVIEW and MOODY's assessment. Shows that it was in fact UNREALISTIC. Now they are saying they can ONLY help a few hundred people. The FNM along with Hubert Ingraham both AGREE with the mortgage relief plan once it was REALISTIC and once it help majority people.THE PLP promised too much and only a FOOL is buying what was being sold ON CREDIT!

No you come on here as an PLP DEFENDER....The point is, The PLP promised they did not deliver and YET YOU are pointing the fingers to Minnis and Ingraham. Both wants the best for all homeowners who are having problems paying their mortgages. The PLP promised that they will make a mortgage plan that will reduce the cost to help out most of those persons. YET YOU ARE ON THIS FORUM talking about Minnis and Ingraham like they promised the world and then some.....YOU SEE WHERE IM COMING FROM? Its obvious your far from a objective truth teller.

DO NOT PROMISE ME 100 dollars and only give me 10 cents. Yet TalRussell eyes are on Hubert Ingraham and Hubert Minnis like they promised me the 100 dollar bill. Any SENSIBLE person would know that The PLP could not deliver such a plan but still promised the Bahamain people it. Minnis, Ingraham, educated people KNOW that it sounded too good to be true. If The PLP had a plan that was REALISTIC then Minnis and Ingraham wouldve agree. But this was only a PLOY just like their 100 day plan. Like I said YET TALRUSSELL is worrying about The FNM. Worry about The government who promised to do something!

Areas such as Technology, Economics, Philosophy etc. are always CHANGING! What a former Chairman of Bahamas Mortgage Corporation in the 1980's advice might help us but it might NOT BE THE RIGHT ADVICE at this time. What happened in The 1980's are different than what is happening now. What I am stating is that Economics world round argue about what can be done to fix the economy. Its a Global Economy.

The PLP promised to assist those homeowners who need help. A week after office they said they were working on a plan to help those persons. Hubert Ingraham and Hubert Minnis indirectly stated that If The PLP finds a good plan to help those persons without hurting our treasury, Then hey they will be happy and approve the plan. Ingraham & Minnis knew that aint no way the plp could come up with such a plan.

Now you are pointing the fingers at the two men who had THE LEAST INVOLVEMENT with this Mortgage plan. Minnis and Ingraham never was the persons who wrote THE PLP 100 DAYS and the Mortgage Relief plan.

YET YOU ARE ONLY TALKING ABOUT THEM TWO. OBVIOUSLY you are a PLP who cant blame the persons who sold you that dream.

Well you know the PLP owes alot of folks money and favors. Guess they figure NIB will pay off their debts. The Finlaysons are filthy rich, they do not need bailing out from the government or anyone for that matter. What the government needs to do is pull Tiger and Mark in the PM's office and tell them to PAY THEIR BILLS! This whole City Markets thing is just slimey. These guys buy a food store chain and run it into the ground, steal their employees money and not one friggin word about prosecution!?!?!? Instead our government thinks they need to pay? Or help out? No! Make the FILTHY RICH, DISHONEST FINALYSONS PAY THEIR EMPLOYEES WHAT IS OWED....

@Boldtruth, what does voting NO have to do with this case. Your despicable for suggesting it. It just goes to show how low the Yes people will get to convince people that they should put their faith in gambling or gaming.

And thus starts the lobbying of various special interests, all with their bona fide rational behind being excluded. John Q public should be out there lobbying for himself, as it is he who will get hurt the worst. Prepare yourself people, Your Government, no matter the party, No matter the promises, broken and forgotten, is sticking you, the public, with the cost of their waste, largess and corruption. The IMF said so. So Said, So Done.

Tarzan 11 years ago on PM talks stall action by BEC union

If it were not for the horrendous impact this BEC fiasco has on the entire economy and on our tens of thousands of unemployed, this would be fodder for comedians.

BEC is dead broke. Everyone including the PM and the union knows that. It is dead broke because for years and years it has been used as a political feeding trough. Now the end has been reached; there is no money to be borrowed and there is no money in the treasury; and, Mr. Miller is doing his valiant best to restore sanity. I have not read one comment from a senior administration official seriously backing up his efforts.

Now the PM is going to take him to the woodshed for telling the simple and obvious truth? There is no more money. Power rates in the Bahamas are strangling the economy and even at current extortive rates, BEC is losing millions. In that context the union is having a hissy fit because it's members cannot get more than 100% of their salaries when they call in sick? Over that the union is threatening to shut down the entire economy? You can't make this up!

When will the Bahamian people demand that the BEC be privatized so we can get this impossible situation under control? Politicians cannot be trusted to operate such a critical industry sanely. Ergo the PM is going to give Mr. Miller and not the union leaders a talking to. Please, say it ain't so!!!

I keep reading this crap and wonder if they even realize what words they are spewing out of their mouths...very distressing to see how they are just going to brush it off and ignore it. RPT on my home will be in the neighbourhood of $12,000 this year...scares the crap out of me as to how I am going to pay it...guess I should just not bother apparently. Thank you Mr. Halkitis...after all, I am enduring some hardships and will be unable to pay my just due taxes. According to your logic...and everyone else in government...BOTH FNM and PLP...we won't be coming after you anyways...and legal action is always the very last resort...so hey...I'm cool!!
