It appears that justice has been served. The aggressor was killed for murdering someone. The Defense Force guy did the right thing by killing the murderer and probably saved more lives. He also saved the tax payers a bunch of money. Well done!

195 bodies in morgue - why fees must go up
Simple problem to solve. Increase the fee for a birth certificate to $750 and invest it in a conservative mutual fund in USA so the money is there when people die. Give the Executor of any Will for anyone who bought the new birth certificate $750 to help pay funeral costs in the cases where a deceased leaves a Will.
If they don't leave a Will or under old or no birth cert then govt just pay as they do now.
Hey....this might even cut down a bit on the plague of bellyswellitis.

Simple. Unclaimed bodies. Have the bodies used by medical students.

The reaction to this video is mixed because at first many thought it was the parent (mother) beating the child. Then it was revealed that both the child's parents are deceased. But that does not excuse a child for coming home from school at 10 pm. An now social media is associating this video with a wanted poster put out by the police for a man wanted for a sex offence. A similar video was put out by an American parent last year, when she found out her daughter was posing for an older man in her underwear. Of course the parent beat the young girl on camera, made her tell all her friends on Facebook that she was not 18 as she had posted and but a school age girl. So how do parents discipline children today with cameras in every corner and everything finding its way on social media. Of course there are parents who don't believe in beating children, but they too can end up on Facebook or on social media in a moment of harsh reprimand of a child. Then what effect will police involvement have in this particular matter? Should Social Services not gotten involved first and then determine if there was need for police action? The child has no biological parents alive so authorities must ensure that she is not being abused. But the intervention must be at the level that there can be a continued relationship between the child and the guardians or the child is removed from the home where the alternative housing is not the girls industrial school if it is not warranted.

DON'T GET IT TWISTED, I know you have to be" politically correct ". Mister Prime Minister, Geoffrey was NOT a nation-builder, nor did he loved this country. He along with the other Concky Joes wanted to remain with their racist counterpart, Britian when our TRUE NATION BUILDERS AND LOVERS OF THE BAHAMAS sought independence. The European led United Bahamian Party were the RACIST OPPRESSORS OF THE BAHAMIAN PEOPLE. I know these words were written for you to say by your speech writer(s)...perhaps this statement was written by the son of the RACIST OPPRESSORS, Brent Symonette and because you owe him and his kind a huge debt you had to say this. NO, Johnstone was not for the Bahamians, except those of his complexion. The UBP oppressed our people, it was only until our MOSES, Sir Lynden and many others stood up and liberal the masses...so, let's not get it TWISTED, HE AIN'T NO SAINT ! Study after study has shown that as long as we keep beating the snot out of children under the guise of spare the rod spoil the child they will grow up to use violence as a problem solving tool . The last study released was a 50 year study of over a hundred thousand children to young adults .The ones who recieved corporal punishment were much more prone to violence and anti social behavior . The Nordic countries where corporal punishment is outlawed have the lowest crime ,violent crime and murder rates on earth . There are other ways to punish children w/ out physical force . It is a vicious cycle w/ beating the snot out of kids and them watching boyfriends beat the snot out of mummy,,its all learned behavior

For crying out loud, it is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. We live on a frigging rock 20 by 7 miles, not in Texas! Put in 10,000 face recognition cameras and hunt down the perpetrators and shoot them dead. As in: "OOps, he was resisting arrest". No one will care, throw the body to the sharks. After the 1,000th dead criminal, the rest will get the message.

I've often wondered at the wisdom of taking shelter in a multiple story glass structure sitting right on the coastline. My understanding is the winds are stronger the higher up you go, those buildings would be under tremendous pressure. I agree with them, evacuate the guests, especially if you have some doubts about the soundness of the structure

UNLIVEABLE: PM urges remaining Ragged Island residents to evacuate
Tal, you are completely wrong on this one.
Any town planning idiot with half an education or half a brain could have told the FNM or the PLP years ago that Ragged Island is neither viable or sustainable as a community.
Google.com put the 2010 population at 72. I guess all of these people actually worked for the government because to operate the island you need an Administrator, BEC, Water and Sewerage, National Insurance, town planning, a School, an airport, a mail boat, an airline that is willing to travel at a financial loss to the island, a post office, Bank of the Bahamas, a food store, defense force, police etc. etc. The Church has already started to beg for cash to rebuild. But none of our “leaders” are addressing the real truth. That the island should be closed down.
The question is how much does Ragged Island actually cost the Bahamian public to run each year? $5 million a year? $10 million a year? We will never know because the ignorant government doesn’t do local government accounts, it all gets piled up into the General Fund. Who benefits from this lack of transparency? The government does because it is essentially perpetuating big government and their god like status.
There was absolutely no need for Minnis to hedge the question on when the residents of Ragged Island should return or to advise his “subjects” that he is “not a technocrat” therefore is not qualified to answer the simple question. Apparently Minnis isn’t much of a leader either. Minnis, please simply tell your “loyal subjects” the truth which is plain for anyone who has thought this through at a high level: The residents of Ragged Island should never return, they should gather together whatever they can salvage and be relocated by the Government.
Secondly, the Government should be truthful as to the real cost of rebuilding Ragged Island. Is it $10 million? Also, the Church needs to get real as well. Remember, every last thing down to a nail has to shipped at a tremendous cost to the island.

Immigration policy's impact on public services a 'serious threat' to national security
If Haiti refuses to accept our deportation of illegal Haitian immigrants (including their children born in the Bahamas) then we should cease all diplomatic relations with Haiti and request that their embassy personnel immediately leave the Bahamas. At the same time, our Ministry of Immigration should give 6 months notice to Haiti that the Bahamas will be revoking all work permits held by Haitian nationals and will begin rounding up for detention all Haitians who will then have no right to reside in our country, if they themselves or the Haitian government have not made arrangements for their repatriation back to Haiti. As for preventing future illegal immigrants from Haiti, The Central Bank of The Bahamas, in concert with our Ministry of Finance, should order all banks and other financial institutions operating in the Bahamas (as well as the gaming web shops) to immediately cease all currency transactions and international money transfers to financial institutions in Haiti and South Florida involving Haitian nationals unless prior written consent is received directly from The Central Bank of The Bahamas. Bahamas Immigration officials at all ports of departure (land and sea) for travel to Haiti and South Florida destinations should be instructed to undertake a rigorous search of all Haitian passengers and suspected non-Haitian currency mules for cold cash in currencies other than the Bahamian dollar being illegally carried out of the Bahamas for the benefit of illegal Haitian immigrants and their family members back in Haiti. Introducing these harsh but necessary measures would put an end to our Haitian illegal immigrant problem and help build our foreign currency reserves. It is high time we get truly serious about protecting our sovereignty, cultural identity and economy from the ravaging effects of unchecked Haitian illegal immigrants. If we are to survive as a nation, we must do whatever we can to fight the scourge of illegal immigration that has for decades now been eating us alive from within like a deadly cancer. As heartless as it may sound, we must turn a deaf ear to the many sob stories pushed to us time and time again by those who do not have the interest of lower income Bahamians at heart, and this includes the Haitian government itself. These are the types of actions the Minnis-led cabinet members should be considering as a matter of great urgency....not the kind Mr. LLoyd is talking about.

The first sentence is misleading. The gist of the article is not that it will take seven Bahamians to replace three expats.
The new positions will be created to cover areas that should have been covered by management, but were not. Probably because they were understaffed and overpaid.
They seem to be moving in the right direction.

When are the illegal Haitian parents and their offspring going to take any accountability for their actions? For decades now it has always been PMH or the registrar's office "lost" their birth certificates. I am sure that happens sometimes, but like this story of the "lost" and "found" undocumented migrant, I believe it is a convenient twisting of tales. Like being too broke to apply for their documents, but sending up to 100 million out of the country annually.
If he did not apply before his 19th birthday, he had no right to be in The Bahamas as a 35 year old man, regardless of the scraps of information that they attempted to submit when deportation came up. His parents abandoned him when they brought or gave birth to him in The Bahamas and believed that's all they needed to do. But of course, they knew they can count on the illegal immigrant enablers like Fred Smith, sell out politicians, and the elite to convince them that they are victims when they all have ulterior motives for keeping the slave like industry and population intact.

His relatives and the outspoken QC knew where he was all the time. it was all about the drama and the opportunity to disrespect Immigration officers. He call Haiti a Hell hole. He and President Trump seems to be on the same page.
If he did not apply for his Citizen ship when he was eighteen what happens now. as for the 12 year old. will the QC be adopting . Never mind the drama king with his high pitch voice.

I really fail to see the point of Bahamian parents.
Beating children isn't love period, pain and love don't go together. That brings psychological confusion and eventual mental damage. In Facebook, the examples of people that grew up with beatings are shown brazenly and defending such madness. Most of the comments show immaturity and defending abuse.
The items that deal with children that fell out of line is even more questionable and flat out causes scars and bodily harm. A tree branch, the flat side of the cutlass, some wires and rocks?
What the hell were we thinking? For a set of people free from slavery, we sure repeated one of the slave masters' barbaric tactics. We should all never use physical force no matter what. Spare the rod and spoil the child? It's just another Roman Catholic indoctrination attempt at abusing those weaker than you then masquerade as love and caring?
No matter what type of disobedience your child did, it is your job to love and care for that child and help them learn and stay away from a burning fire. Not straight out whip them and call it love. Then trash talk American parents and call them bad parents when Bahamian parents can't do anything but beat their child,
It's time to learn and put away childish acts.
