No problem - and same time abolish business license fees and customs duties which is medieval. And streamline public sector by 40%. And join WTO.

JokeyJack 2 years, 11 months ago on ROLLING THE DICE WITH OUR LIVES: COVID cases leap 200% as Sands warns: we’re ‘gambling at our peril’

Dr. Sands is absolutely correct. Seeing that over 70% of the people in the Bahamas have died from Covid in the past 6 months (65% of those since the Omicron came out), he must be taken seriously. Just one example, the entire island of Eleuthera is now totally empty - not a single person to be found alive.

This is madness. With only 30% of the population remaining alive, WHEN will the government institute new measures? Are they going to wait for us all to die and then turn the country over to foreigners? Dr. Fauci has said over and over again to wear TWO masks and yet we continue to only wear one. I myself wear 4 masks at all times, even while sleeping. I even crafted a mask from a butter bowl lid with the center cut out, and covered with Saran wrap - to use in the shower (waterproof).

Masks Masks Masks. They are the only thing that's going to save the remaining 30% of us. Wear 4 like I do, or even wear 8 if you want to be twice as careful as I am.

I've even heard that a few persons who have died from Omicron have come back to life and died again multiple times - but that just sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.

JohnQ 2 years, 11 months ago on UPDATED – Two dead in holiday shootings

Tri, I rarely respond to comments on my posts. In this case I will. I don't doubt for a minute that the worst elements of our society are in positions of power. It seems likely that certain political and law enforcement entities fit the description of the "lowest class of society". However, when large portions of the citizenry are on the take and are willing to cheat on even the most basic aspects of things - electric bills, water bills, vehicle licenses, etc. - the thuggery becomes a way of life.

In my observation, much of what we see today is the result of the breakdown at the family level. No father in the home, women who cohabitate with men without values, children who are neglected, and a society that tacitly approves of the breakdown. Some of us have not fallen into the breakdown, we live a modest lifestyle and raised our children in a two parent household with loving guidance and support. In the case of my wife and I, our children are all now honest hardworking productive members of society.

I don't have a for sure answer to this problem, but can only say what my own experience is and what I see everyday. It starts in the home.

The unvaccinated cohort are largely why any severe restrictions such as ceasing in-school education are even considered by the government,” the parent said.

Who said that? It has been shown that the vaccines wane quickly and offer some protection against hospitalization and death. So no protection against transmission.

The closures, lockdown, vaccine passport are to stop transmission and have not worked.

Yes, the school should be open. But the teachers do not want that to happen.

I was sympathetic when I started reading the article. Until I saw it was a disguise to promote compulsory vaccination.

@Bonefish. If we had real local government and we (Abaco) were allowed to keep a fixed percentage of the taxes we produce, we would have money for Hole in the Wall. As it is we send all of our money to Nassau then hold our hands out for the pittance they give us. It’s not democracy it’s a form of colonial communism where all the money Abaconians work for is distributed to others. It’s not going to change.

Sickened 2 years, 8 months ago on Royals ‘must reckon’ with reparations

Will reparations help us in any way. With our governments and lack of accountability any funds received will disappear in a heart beat. We can't use the funds to pay down debt because government will just borrow that money again 6 months later. Building a memorial will be a complete waste of time, money and effort as it will never be maintained. Dispersing it among the people will not help the people or the Bahamian economy because we'll just fly to Miami and buy more shit! The only thing we can do with it is put it in an investment and pay every Bahamian dividends from it every year so at least we, and our children, will get a little something every year. But the problem with that is we will want Bahamians to manage it but there won't be any regular reporting or audit so in time we won't truly know if it's being managed correctly or if there is indeed any money left. Plus, government will find a way to borrow against it (like NIB) and drain away any value. In short, reparations are a nice thought, but we just aren't mature enough to handle any 'windfall'.

ThisIsOurs 2 years, 7 months ago on Food Task Force: We’ve given 1.4m unit account

You can believe it was an accounting error. I do not. The weird thing is nobody has even given you the courtesy to explain to you what TYPE of account this money was put in that would justify a "reasonable" error or oversight, nobody has told you that their annual operating budget was 200 million so 2 million went unnoticed in the accounting. but you just "believe".

And you do realize this accumulation of money in the account went on for months? And nobody got a clue?? On either side? Neither the Task Force nor the NGO realized overpayments to the millions were being made?

I believe in Jesus. I dont need to see the wound in his side. But that's where my blind faith ends

This will never benefit a single soul, as 1) Government and its BPL/URCA/Ministry of works people don't know squat and 2) some lackey that doesn't know squat will get the contract. Or 3) a foreign company will get the contract and rebate the appropriate kickbacks and eventually get hamstrung before any of it is turned on. Isn't the Sport center solar still sitting idle?

The racist and radical Reverend would like to have his cake and eat it. He writes about all of the white foreign people who have exploited ignorant Bahamians in one form or another and why we should jump on the history and statue destroying bandwagon. Paradoxically, the man he and many others hold in veneration, Lynden Pindling, was one of the the major players in The Bahamas descent into the pit of the drug hell, not all of us have forgotten a nation for sale. So Reverend, if you’re going to be tearing down statues of those individuals whose conduct contributed to the many ills that now face us as a country start with your idols’,you know the one with the feet of clay.

Who was in charge of overseeing these domes? Damn man, you just wasted my fricken money and want to charge more tax that I cannot pay !!!!!
