Our healthcare system is completely overwhelmed meaning any very serious case of Covid-19 is now tantamount to a death sentence. Triage is no doubt being practiced which means only those patients most likely to recover are being treated, especially if they have a good health insurance policy or other financial means to pay the exorbitant medical costs.

@MrsQ: The last few sentences of your post serve to remind all of us of Minnis's well known predilection for being downright nasty and vindictive whenever his most foolish decisions or serious abuses of authority are brought into question.

What are you talking about? Vitamin D and Zinc are good for you and can help boost your immune system, they DO NOT prevent you from contracting the virus. You are spreading false information.

The numbers are as bad as they have ever been to the point where we can surpass our combined initial 4 month tally on any given day ... yet we're “Opening Up” ... so much for following “the Science” ... not to mention defeating the whole purpose of the initial 4 month restrictions!

Lol, everyday you all came here commenting that the country should be opened up, the economy was being destroyed, the lockdown was unconstitutional, the seawater treats covid...covid 19, a respiratory virus, requires a human body shedding virus and passing their droplets to spread it, i believe it was communicated that the point of the lockdown was that the hospitals were ill equipped to deal with a latge number of sick ppl. The numbers are growing or continue, because people are continuing to spread it and persons are contracting it.

Nearly 100 "location pending" is not acceptable. Yet, in a land where the little information we have is held by those in perilous positions of power, it is not surprising. Knowledge is power. And, it is in very short supply here.

the restrictions are outrageous and excessive but absolutely necessary.

It makes no sense to allow someone into our country who could he covid positive. And since we can't get same day travel testing as yet, they need to be checked again on arrival to ensure they dudnt pick up an infection from the date of the pretest. If they had followed the rules they're putting in place now we could have saved 40 lives from persons aged 20 to 80. It looks like more will die because of ill thought out loose border restrictions and a decision by Dr Minnis as Minister of Health to rush through phases and reopen too quickly.

It's too late to say sorry

Indeed, many of the Covid-19 related deaths since July 1 are directly attributable to Minnis and D'Aguilar's most fateful and foolish decision to prematurely reopen our country's borders on that date. Both of them should have long ago resigned from government.

The death count due to Covid-19 is likely understated as was the case with Hurricane Dorian. Many of these deaths and others to come can be directly attributed to Minnis and D'Aguilar's fateful and most foolish decision to prematurely reopen our country's borders on July 1. Both of them should have long ago resigned from government.

He thanks the people of Grand Bahama for their compliance. That's funny!

I hope he has a plan. I suspect he doesn't, but we have to hope. If he doesn't have one, we're in big trouble beyond where we are now.

There is an answer. From day one, had we been working on securing a rapid test, we could have demanded that all people coming to The Bahamas be tested upon entering this country. If they are positive, they go home. If they test negative, have fun and no quarantine, I mean Vacation in Place. The lag time in testing, to receiving the results to then be entering our country is a failure of efficacy, a failure to protect our people, and a failure of intelligent reasoning. Yes, perhaps it is a bit more costly. Is it more costly than the paperwork presently in place? More costly than the loss of our entire economy? More costly than the ridiculous advertising campaign now proposed by our tourism boss? More costly? No! Test people when they come to our shores. No exceptions.

Doubtful the major hotels will open up next month. They have to protect themselves. They won't open until they know its safe to.

This FNM government really is just horrible...

By the way, would someone please tell me how Vacation in Place is going to help the local economy? You can’t leave the hotel to go to a local restaurant or bar or straw market. The only people that might be ok with this is Atlantis and Bahamar! Now they have their tourists locked down forced to spend megabucks for a meal instead of supporting the locals! It is difficult for me to believe our elected officials are this dumb. Just think, if they would have spent the money on instant testing from the start everything would be normal!

He should have waited. When Nassau explodes to 2 - 300 cases a day in the next week or two he's gonna look like an idiot. Again...

Appears this FNM just cannot learn....

I believe a noncovid related death is someone who has been tested positive for covid who subsequently dies but covid is deemed not to have been the cause of death.

ThisIsOurs 4 years, 3 months ago on BAHA MAR SCRAPS OCTOBER OPENING: Resort tells workers goal to launch next month not feasible

You know it's fine to hope but sometimes the writing is on the wall. Neither the hotels or the cruise lines will risk a major outbreak on their premises. It would gut their business. A grand opening followed by a massive outbreak could tarnish that property for 5 years. Whereas if they waited say a year on a vaccine, they're back to normal ops. Tourism officials have said nothing to allay any fears that they're overlooked health concerns. Its clear they're only concerned about the economy. You can force your own workers to go back to work but you can't force someone else to risk their business because you feel it's time

Other ideas are there. They're ignoring them over politics
