They were handed down their consequences......... deemed suitable by the school for their actions. Now it is their choice to act like the young decent adults they should be in the future and move on. “We are free to choose our paths, but we can't choose the consequences that come with them.” AND “We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us.”

I fully support the school. I hope that SJC won't be the only school to take such a stance. I have seen countless videos of students in school uniforming dancing in a vulgar manner while on school premises; that's utterly inappropriate. In addition to that, I can't fathom why students would find it funny to pull a prank during Mass! These students have absolutely no respect. Well done Bishop Boyd!

I agree wholeheartedly with all of the above comments. Let this be a lesson to those who caused the cancelation of events.

If a person is spending monies to receive a service that is no longer a privilege, they in fact have a right to receice the service. Also it is stated that the 'sexual dance' was video taped so why cancel the entire ceremony instead of just excluding those involved on the film from being participants. Again remember that the students paid for various services so its not like the school was just throwing this 'free party' and now that a few may have piss of those in authority to hell with it the whole function is cancelled.
Or is it someone on the graduation board is a businessman and tried to used this event as a profitable venture but after little or no profit being foreseen its best to use the actions of the students as a crop out.

The Jitney was part of St. Johns Annual Float Parade. - Teachers were present. If they thought it to vulgar they could have stopped it.
The video is evidence enough that the administration can pick out the guilty few. Whatever they thought of that video and who was vulgar in it they can point it out.
I agree that the guilty students should be taught a lesson. But I do not think so a momentous occasion in the innocent student lives should be taken away because of the fear that our politicians and government leaders may not be able to provide valuable lessons.

Moss does not object to 'play marriage' ceremonies between people of same sex
I encourage you to read the article again. I was asked by the Tribune to comment specifically on the so called same-marriage ceremony that took place between 2 men on Harbour Island. Everyone knows that the so called ceremony could be nothing other that a "play marriage" ceremony because in The Bahamas marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. So if two grown men want to go through a "play marriage" ceremony, even though I unequivocally oppose same sex marriage, my position is they are free to engage in their ceremony. That's all a part of living in a free, democratic society: people are free to do what the law does not prohibit.
I've been called many things, but being a waffler is not one of them. Therefore, it is my view that anyone who concluded that I was waffling in my comments has obviously misread my article, or, worse, has a comprehension problem. I focused on the important point of what should and can be legitimately prohibited, and that is marriage officers performing these ceremonies between same sex couples because to do so is misleading and misrepresenting their office as marriage officers.
My last point has to do with vilifying those who do not share your view. Why do you and others like you need to try to vilify me just because you don't like what I said? Let's lift the level of public discourse and be civil. If you support a society where you can force people to act in ways that you want them to, even though the law does not require them to, you are free to do so. Therefore, if you feel that it should be illegal for people of the same sex to engage in the so called "same sex marriage" ceremonies that have absolutely no legal effect, then I suggest that you and your anonymous friends come forward and begin to advocate for such "Taliban" measures. And if the majority of Bahamians support your views, then "play marriage" ceremonies like the one purported to have taken place in Harbour Island will become illegal. I do not support such an approach, but I do oppose the legalization of same-sex marriage. So, please don't try to attack and vilify me just because we understand democracy differently. Thanks for considering this!

Leader of the Cuban Democracy Movement Ramon Sanchez, is a convicted felon that served 4 years in prison in The United States.
He has been disrupting things in the U.S. for years. He has blocked traffic in New York's Lincoln tunnel preventing drivers from traveling to and from New York City from New Jersey. He also in the past has sat on the MacArthur Causeway in Miami blocking drivers from going to Miami Beach from the mainland. We need to remind Americans what he has done to its citizens while protesting the U.S. repatriation of those Cubans that nearly made it to their shores.
Why has The Bahamas not hired an excellent P.R. Firm in the U.S. is beyond me. Why after all the lip service there still has not been any lawsuit in the tens of millions of dollars filed in a U.S. court for defamation is beyond me. Ignoring the bogus claims of the fake video clearly is not winning strategy. We need to act IMMEDIATELY to defend the good name of our country. This is poor leadership on the part of the government.
In the future, to avoid these allegations by Cuban Americans every few years, we need to make it a policy to have all Cubans deported back to Cuba within 48 hours. The longer you hold these unruly people the more damage is done to our reputation internationally. Surely Fred Mitchell can sign an agreement with the Cuban Government to accept their people back immediately rather than the Cuban government dragging their feet.

Excellent job Mr. Mitchell. Send those pain in the rear Cubans back to Cuba where they belong and not Miami where they want to be. Light skinned Haitians are all Cubans are.
Castro has a special deal waiting just for them when they set foot back in Cuba.
Never mind the noise in the market. No one in America cares what the Cubans think anyway and our tourism business will not be affected by a few idiot Cubans.
Bahamians need to boycott Miami and the Cubans and shop in Panama. The airfair is a little higher, but the shopping is way below that of Miami, fooa and hotel is cheaper and you don't have to jump through hoops at airport security or answer 20 stupid questions by rude U.S. boarder agents who act like we are Haitians trying to sneak into the all powerful USA.
We can spend our $Billion in Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil and Belize and get much better value for dollar and much less non-sense.

In the Bahamas, actions appear to not have any consequences. The spirit of piracy still prevails among us. There are no take backs and no do-overs. These kids..... their parents especially, and the entire Bahamas has learned much from this St. John's incident. The Anglican Education Authority should be applauding for beginning the move towards saving what's left of our country. Now, if we can only begin holding our parliamentarians and government leaders equally accountable, we may stand a very good chance to turn this great little country around.
