Concerned 12 years, 7 months ago on Governor General's throne 'stolen'

Is this one of the accomplishments of the 100 Day Challenge? Because this really isn't the type of achievement I was expecting under a new government. I am crossing my finger that it will turn up somewhere. Come on, what can a person do with a throne? Who can you sell it to? A Lyford Cay resident? On eBay? Melt down the brass plate and sell to the scrap metal dealers? Ship the wood to Haiti as charcoal? You really can't have a throne sitting up in your living room and showing it off to your friends and family when they come over. Either there is a mistake or our criminals are getting dumber and dumber.

Whether temporarily or permanently, please tell me...... HOW DOES A COUNTRY LOSE A THRONE????

This is absolutely disgusting. I recently visited the Bahamas and while I love the islands what left the biggest impression was how horribly too many of the animals are treated. There is no excuse for cats, dogs and horses to suffer the way they do in what is supposes to be civilized society. I wish tourists would refuse to ride in carriages pulled by these poor horses.

Id like to see NO surrey rides at all...ever..why not put a stop to the cruelty now.If the surrey horse owners still want to drive tourist around town in the heat and traffic then rickshaws would be a good replacement.

as a nation when you are irresponsably sexually , 75% illegitimacy rate , men having children w/ four and five women and vice versa , you will have ever larger ghettos , proverty and crime . WE can not produce children faster than our gdp and expect not to end up like Haiti and Jaimaca ,,simple math, more mouths less dollars for everyone ,,,,,,,,,,our neighbors do the same tourism numbers as us they just got more people to split the dollars ,therefore a lower standard of living

Excellent editorial! Sad to say 'that's what you get when you tired of what you gat'... this is what the people voted for excluding myself of course. This is the government that is about "putting Bahamians first", my a%#. Say what you want about the Rt. Hon. Hubert Alexander Ingraham but at least he was taking this country in the right direction amidst hard economic times. Now we are moving backwards instead of forward. This is only the beginning folks stay tune there's a lot more havoc to come in these longggggg years with the PLP reigning. A bunch of clowns and fakers in Parliament acting ridiculous and out of order. Lord help us!

Excellent. If only more Bahamians would speak out about the ridiculous things going on in this country - things that go on unchecked regardless of whether PLP or FNM are in power.

I must admit that i am quite impressed with Miss Turner's articles .There are many letter writers out the ,whose letters are just given a quick perusal by me at best ,or not at all ,letters written from both sides of the political divide, eg; Ivoine Ingraham, Ossie Brown,Forrester Carroll etc, because historically they are all just apologists for their political masters and in many cases written for political crumbs.Without glancing over Bahamas Press, another one of them, i wouldn't even khow who Sharon Turner is.It is obvious from her writings that she is an intelligent ,articulate and knowledgible your lady with a great concern for her country.I look forward to reading more of them!

I would be happy to pay $50 for each local Vet that is spayed or neutered. They should never be allowed to breed.

The local vets are idiots...take a FREE project to one that we have to be paying them for...they should be volunteering their time and working alongside the foreign vets working in tandem...for FREE to get more dogs spayed and neutered...if they TRULY want to address the stray dog situation. But they won't even do it for free or help the other vets...all they want it the $$$$$$$$. Idiots.

Once again GREED motivates the decision making process! This activity does not cost the Bahamian people one red cent! It is done out of care and concern and in fact, actually saves in the long run.

This ridiculous proposal proposal from the VMAB will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to alleviate the Potcake situation. The people who bring their dogs to these clinics would not otherwise do so. So the VMAB is not out a penny! Furthermore, those volunteers who come from away pay their own way, pay for accommodations, pay for meals and other things - in other words THEY ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE LOCAL ECONOMY!!

Proverbs 12:10 tells us that no one should be cruel to animals. And it tells us that in the eyes of God the person that takes care to love, and fill all needs of their pets are rewarded and looked upon as righteous and good. Those that are cruel and abuse their animals will not be looked upon favourably.

It really is mind boggling how dumb some Bahamians can be. Even the "educated" officials at the highest levels in government. Too stupid to even understand they're getting a free hand out. It's like saying "thanks for helping us, now you have to pay us". SMH...

stislez, if you want to be accurate in your hatred and intolerance, then take it back to your own AFrican roots who were very complicit in partnering with the "white man" in the the slave trade. And understand that slave trading was part of AFrican culture much earlier than the white man came along. Here is a quote and then a link so that you can better inform yourself:

"The historical record is incontrovertible—as documented in the PBS Africans in America series companion book: The white man did not introduce slavery to Africa . . . . And by the fifteenth century, men with dark skin had become quite comfortable with the concept of man as property . . . . Long before the arrival of Europeans on West Africa’s coast, the two continents shared a common acceptance of slavery as an unavoidable and necessary—perhaps even desirable—fact of existence. The commerce between the two continents, as tragic as it would become, developed upon familiar territory. Slavery was not a twisted European manipulation, although Europe capitalized on a mutual understanding and greedily expanded the slave trade into what would become a horrific enterprise . . . . It was a thunder that had no sound. Tribe stalked tribe, and eventually more than 20 million Africans would be kidnapped in their own homeland. "

See this link if you would like to be educated - and many, many more articles, documentaries etc on the origin of probably the worse crimes against humanity in history - where the black man was as much a partner as the white man. perhaps worse - selling your own people.

http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/4…

However, i agree with Gladiator and K4C - your anger and hatred is, firstly, very unchristian and secondly and most importantly it is the very root of the problem of why our country is in the state that it is in. You want to hate every white man because of what happened before you were born? Should the white man hate and fear every black man because some are killers, rapists, drug addicts? Should the white man hate all black men because some have made their wealth from drug running, underhanded business deals, partnering with the illegal numbers houses, etc?? you, my friend, must let get of your narrowmindedness and if you truly love your Bahamaland then you must figure out how to turn your hatred into a positive otherwise you will be swimming in your own self-perpetuated hate and filth.

My brother you are missing the point and it has nothing to do with maths or who got a head start or even who's ahead now. It's about respect for one another and common decency which is quite uncommon in our country these days, have a great day.

Are you serious Sheeprunner?? Last time I checked Black folks been in charge here for the last 45 years and I certainly wouldn't call the Pindlings, Maynard's, Gibsons, Finlaysons and other of that ilk and hue underprivileged by any stretch of imagination. What he said was just plain ugly and disrespectful, I wonder how he would feel if someone referred to a deceased relative of his as a scrubby black tiefin negro?
