Elliston Rahming has attracted the attention of Amnesty International as head of the prison system. I wonder if that is part of the delay.

Publius 8 years, 6 months ago on FNM ‘up in arms’ at Rolle comments

What this Senator said about any of her colleagues in a private conversation with a colleague of even lesser political standing than her is of absolutely zero consequence to the country. Loretta would be the last fool to take this on or even be bothered by it. Everyone talks about everyone in private, including Bain who fancies himself as Bobo and Toggie 2.0. Who cares what she says about whoever she wants to in private? That's why it is called private. Had she gone to the media or an otherwise public venue that would have been an entirely different matter. The fact that these spent, desperate persons in the FNM are happy to be reported on as being up in arms about a junior Senator's personal opinions in a private discussion shows how patently stupid and pathetic these FNMs are. Who is she that they are so up in arms? Why is she so relevant and has them so wound up that they have to go hightailing it on their ever petty trek to the Tribune to have them dutifully report on their worthless foolishness? Unless these FNMs suddenly want their private conversations made public, what are they truly trying to accomplish here? What was done to her can easily be done to any of them. Do these FNMs even live in this country? Do they have any idea where this country is at, and their own place in where this country is at? This is where their efforts are concentrated while the country is dying? A nightmare is what the present situation has long since been and has more frighteningly become.

Doc must keep his "keep-on-keeping-on". . .this doggish "back-jooking" . . .by the LBT faction will not amount to much. . .they know it will not! EVERY LAWYER KNOWS THAT WHEN YOU CANNOT WIN IN CHAMBERS ON THE MERITS OF YOUR CASE. . .YOU ATTEMPT TO "TRY" THE CASE IN "PUBLIC".

That's how I know when lawyer Munroe has a "donkey" case. . .he is all over the media trying to "shift" public opinion to his "hopeless" position!

DOC JUST NEED TO "KEEP" HIS WITS ABOUT HIM. . .WE THE PEOPLE SEE WHAT THEM "BOTTOM FEEDERS" ARE DOING TO HIM! So far he is holding his head up good!

"My head is under waaa-ter. . .but I am doing fine". . . is Doc's new battle cry in that pit of snakes!!!

They praised Doc Rollins and his "uppity antics" and condemned Senator Rolle for her "uppity antics". Child let me sit down. . .THIS FNM PARTY MAKING WE HEAD SPIN. Lol!

The sad part I see here in these comments is that people are upset she is saying what she is saying. Ever thought what she was saying is true?

Are you all embroiled in this idea of party unity over being realistic? Maybe I missed something she said that was considered bad. But even if so, the same people who were acclaiming Rollins for speaking out are telling Roll to be quiet. Anything to beat the PLP? Even just becoming the opposite side of the same coin? Political integrity has been entombed in self interest and all I see here are people fighting for the self interest of politicians over the future of the country.

B_I_D___ 8 years, 6 months ago on Do you think a coalition between the FNM and DNA would win the general election?

...ahh...but Birdie, they won with a MAJORITY of the votes cast...the PLP in this election won with the majority of the population voting AGAINST them because the majority of voters split their vote between the FNM and the DNA. That's probably why the PLP are getting crap thrown at them at every turn, because the majority of the populace did not want them.

DEDDIE 8 years, 4 months ago on Delegates back me, says Minnis

Over the years we have gotten so use to slick talking career politicians/lawyers that when someone who is self made, paperboy to doctor comes along we think that he can't be a good leader. I look forward to someone other than a lawyer leading this country. Beware of lawyers they put burdens on men that they themselves don't want to bear.

Comrades! What is with this newspaper's go out their way avoidance to publish the "small resort's" name, while such confidentiality is seldom extended to the victims of suicide? They don't have the same confusion when it comes to publishing the names of the victims of suicide -alongside the gross details of how it happened - including their work occupation, the names family members and the deceased's address? I've even seen them publish all about their political afflictions and mental conditions?

Mrs Butler-Turner said she talked her parliamentary colleagues out of their plans to go to Governor General Dame Marguerite Pindling with a vote of no confidence in Dr Minnis to have him removed as Official Opposition leader.

Now, I wonder who is going to be honest and tell the actual truth about how this situation truly transpired, because this is absolutely shameless storytelling by Butler-Turner. I'm weary of expressing my disgust with the antics of FNMs.

I am saying I know this not to be what actually took place. Beyond that, look at what she has now done to her fellow colleagues through this fable. She has now painted them as the problem MPs and herself as the hero who tried to save the day. It is a shameless lie and a lie that was nowhere near necessary in order for Butler-Turner to try to make her case to the delegates or whoever she thinks is her target audience for their convention.

Loretta Butler-Turner and her band of merry men are doing their damnedest to rip apart the FNM while spouting all the while they are all for keeping the party together. Running for leadership in any political party is a fundamental right of democracy, and she has every right to do this. However, her antics could very well result in a party that she would not want to lead. The convention is less than two weeks away, and a leader will be duly elected at that time. Everyone should be campaigning for support, but not at the expense of party unification. I wonder who will support whom after the new leader is elected, or the old one returned (the most likely outcome).

would-be coup

And I wish to the heavens that today's reporters had some actual knowledge of their country and its Constitution. Votes of no confidence are foundational democratic organs and one of the highest methods of accountability within the legislature and the executive in our system. Do these reporters even know what a coup is? Our educational system, politics and the media - the unholy trinity in dumbing down the population.

Butler-Turner: FNM ‘Is At Its Weakest Point In Its History’ because BLT and Sands invested 4 years and every once of energy degrading the party for personal gain!

BLT and Sands are total demagogues supported by corrupt FNM elites! If by some miracle they should win, expect Symonnette, Watson and Ingraham to complete their plan of the Haitianization of Bahamas.

alfalfa 8 years, 4 months ago on Butler-Turner: FNM ‘is at its weakest point in its history’

The FNM is at it's weakest point because of the public utterances of Loretta Butler Turner and Dr. Sands and their band of supporters in Parliament. Dr.Minnis is campaigning to return as leader without casting aspersions on the characters of those who challenge his position. Meanwhile his opponents are busy washing their underwear in public and further weakening their party. If you are professing to be the better alternative then why do you have to do so at the expense of your party's character. All of this hurrah will mean nothing if the party is so dis-jointed that supporters begin to lose interest. The PLP will win by default.

Comrades the only 5-pont-recovery plan needed is the one by the red movement to bring an immediate relief, recovery from a complete party collapse by Loretta.
Just to give you an idea of this meddling woman’s sunken popularity, how does she complete with the ‘populist leader’ like Minnis when she goes hunting for voting convention delegates, yet manages to snag but a room of 50 warm bodies. Doesn’t this speak for what the reds really have planned for her July 27-29, 2016?
That’s a room of 50 warm bodies, less at least 15 cold bodies from her campaign team of the 50 and you know the Tribune reporter would have been so tempted to have overestimated the reported crowd of 50, by at least 20 bodies? More important the weakest missing part this story are the actual count of the 15 warm bodies we believe were no more than the true numbers who actually bothered to show-to hear what Loretta had say?
Comrades I will concede Duane was not a Photoshop into the photo. Right

Comrades! Don't you thinks a former prime minister who walked away from his responsibility as leader after suffering the most "self-inflicted" disastrous 2012 General Election defeat in Bahamaland's politic history, but not before he parked the Red Movement with over a million dollars in unpaid debt, should be too embarrassed to even show up at Meliá Nassau Beach? Now, the more I thinks about July 27-29, 2016 - Loretta, Duane and Papa does really deserve each others fates.
Refresh my memory cause I cannot recall a singular attempt by Papa since 2012 to hold a fundraiser to pay off the one million plus he left behind for Minnis?
What drives Papa outside his inflated big head sure hasn't involved to lend a helping hand help to Minnis to help repair the massive wreck he left behind under the big red tent?
Seems be a small islands Caribbean trend that former defeated prime ministers, just cannot resist the political spotlight - but they know how skips out when it's heavy lifting party time? Speak with many the 410 delegates and they will tell you that they are preparing dig a hole for Loretta and Duane that going be so deep - their 50 or so supporters will have to tunnel down deep to provide them with any sign of lights.
