An unfortunate tenor has arisen from some who support The Dear Maximum Leader and his new batch of minions in the party formerly known as the FNM that scares me. Yes a well organized political debate would have given us an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates rather than having to listen to their endless rhetoric filled speeches to rabid frothing at the mouth tribal colour clad followers we usually get every 5 years. Hard questions as to why we sold out BTC at 51% and not 49% (which was the only figure ever publically mentioned by either the PLP or FNM) in a no-bid deal to C&W or after deluding their followers in 2007 that they would oppose many of the deals left on the table by the PLP the FNM merely went ahead an executed them with small tweaks in favor of their financial benefactors or why in the midst of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression our government chose to embark on aggressive tax and licensing fee collection regime on small businesses etc... We could have also clearly heard from all candidates their message as to how they intend to tackle our crime, education and economic crisis without filters and spin doctors shilling for them. A well organized debate would have given the electorate one more data point to evaluate the prospective party’s agendas and the individual candidates make up first hand. Unfortunately the mindless tribal followers wish only to continue to jump up and down at rallies, parades and other forms of stupefying entertainment rather than engage in intelligent debate of the issues. For those of you whose minds are made up every election period based solely on tribal affiliations; you will never understand that the independent thinking voter wants to hear from our prospective leaders in as many possible forums before making up our minds.

Comrades it ain’t that difficult to spot the FNM spin hands in the comments posted here. Pre General Election registration is not a requirement in many countries but simple a method to facilitate the holding of more organized elections, allowing those citizens not pre registered to also register at their local Elections office or at their respective polling places on the actual general Elections Day, this guaranteeing that every qualified citizen has the right to cast their vote. Both the FNM and PLP are still operating under the outdated and questionable UBP methods of trying to control votes, favorable to the reigning government of the day. How long since Independence and not only is the UBP still got their hands on the government and all the major contracts and business happenings but also over how the natives get to vote.

Lets just hope the candidates can stick to that "good, clean, fair election." theme. Unfortunately, the candidates available just present us with a choice between "the lesser of two evils".....

had a question for the publishers of this site. How come you always lead off with murders and political stories in the #1 location? We get tired of always hearing/seeing negative news....there are many other positive things happening on this island for sure! How about reporting those sometimes and give us a break....who knows, something good may actually come of it...

If only life was as easy as 'just leave'. You have no idea what that woman may have been going through. Most people in abusive situations can't 'just leave'. If it were that easy, no one would be in an abusive relationship. "No one forced her to stay in that situation"??? You don't know that either, he may have threatened to kill her night and day.

I'm not giving her right for killing her husband or saying she shouldn't have served time, but when it comes to abuse, never make assumptions.

My cousin has been through enough with this man. I feel bad that it happen that way, But he has abused her for many many years and she tried everything to save her marriage (even moving away from her family) to try and make a life for her family. Don't let this article fool you, he was beating the shit out of her and she was dealing with it until she snapped!! So before u Judge someone know what the hell they've been through, cause if the shoe was on the other foot and he was choking the life out of u what would be your next move????
