Guy 10 years, 5 months ago on Minimum wage rise plan 'dangerous, ludicrous'

It is near impossible for an adult to survive on $150.00 per week. The wage should have been increased a long time ago. The business community can cry all they want....people have got to live!

Wow!!!! I could feel the pain that child had to endure. This situation is sickening, I can't think of a punishment that is suitable for the monster that did this. This is what happens when the law don't do their job. If that animal was sitting in jail for statutory rape this would not of happen,

One hates to see the face of an unhappy child and this two year old's face speaks volumes. Very, very sad.
I am with proudloudandfnm on the legal side of things. Jail is a good place to start with the so called father

I can't even begin to imagine what that poor child endured, we as parents are suppose to protect our children not harm them. Too many children have died at the hands of these monsters and there is no justice for them. Something needs to happen in this country and children need to be protected.

Back to blame game we go. As far as I'm concerned its not even about party. Because I think supporters of both major parties feel let down and disappointed. Not matter what side your on it seems like there's a circle of people in this country who only take care of there own. This goes across party lines. It really is sickening. They cut dirty deals and we suffer for it. Meanwhile their kids get the best education and opportunities. Something has to happen in this country.

I always wondered how safe it was sitting next to those props on a plane. good thing it didn't slice thru the fuslage and injure somone. But once the pilot shuts off one engine he would have to 'lean' the plane to avoid it going into a spin. is uccess roves he was experienced. I remember one time I was o a flight to Miami,(not on Bahamasair), and the plane hti turbulance and started to drop for what felt like 1000 feet, then just when it levelled off and everyone tarted to calm down it started to drop again. By the time it levelled off this time all the grown folk was hollering and sceaming and crying and, yes, PRAYING, but then one little girl shouts out, "mummy lets do it again", and her innocence calmed the entire plane load of frigntened passengers.

Bahamasair's entire fleet is now in question! Thank God no lives were lost and no serious injuries. I know the psychological effect for some passengers was devastating. This should be considered serious don't understand how some people can be so nonchalant with their comments. All this talk about "oh the pressure this and stabilising that" those passengers aren't pilots or in the aircraft industry. If you in the air and you look out and see a piece of propeller fall off no amount of airplane jargon that you know would comfort you at that time. This is just a warning Bahamasair needs to take this dead serious and do an audit inspection of their entire fleet immediately! This aint no joke.

Concerned 11 years, 6 months ago on Corporal: I used ‘sleeper hold’ to restrain prisoner

You know... in a civilized nation with properly trained officers, the officers would have used pepper spray or a taser to safely subdue a hostile suspect. But that would require three things: the Bahamas being a civilized nation, officers being properly trained, and officers being supplied with pepper spray and a taser. Every cop and mall cop in America has them. Tactical pepper spray cost $35 and a multi-discharge taser cost $90. It took our police years to evolve to begin carrying guns and not batons, let's see how long it will take for our police to evolve to carry non-lethal weapons. Sadly, resorting to moves seen on WWF Wrestling is not a clear sign that we're evolving.

Cannot protect our visitors? Are you serious, Dr. Minnis? Our first priority is to protect our own people. Our leaders seem to do everything in our power to lower the self image of our people. We make every effort to remind our people that we are less important than our visitors, because they bring money. The same concerns that visitors have - safety, security, etc - are the concerns that Bahamians have. If The Bahamas is safe for Bahamians, it is safe for visitors. If we empower our people; if we allow our people to feel ownership of our own land; if we invest in the future of our people; if we stop denying our qualified persons opportunities that now seem to automatically go to foreigners; if we engender hope in our people; then we will recognise a sense of hope, of accomplishment, of opportunity for all, not just a connected few. We will recognise and accept our ownership of our country and act accordingly.

Well said Collin. It is really unfortunate that many people here seem to always want to be blinded from reality and at every opportunity turn each issue into a political affair. Statistics shows that the majority of crimes are committed by our young men. Yes poverty is one contributing factor to crime among many others but like you said if everyone was given jobs and the economy shifted and there was now prosperity and growth, would there no longer be crime? In fact how many of these young men if given an opportunity to make an earnest hard living would actually choose to? Why do that when through a sense of entitlement, lack of respect for life and others property one can go and simply demand what one wants? So what if it there is a negative impact on the country at large, lives are lost, people are hurt! With more babies have babies, more and more illiterate students being churned out of schools, with more and more fatherless/parentless homes, with more and more stronger desires for material things, with more and more people not teaching the youth the meaning of life, hardwork, dedication, respect and love for others, the value of education, there will be more and more people being bred with no morale, no values, no ethics, no long term vision, no goals, no cares, and more and more people dying, suffering. The government can only do so much.

The government can not sit in your house and teach your child civility. The government can not sit in your house and teach your child right from wrong, respect, and love. The government can not teach your child the importance of a good education. We as citizens need to look at ourselves and make changes within ourselves and become more committed to being a part of the solution rather than looking at a chosen few to do miracles!

this is sadly predictable when a country is running a 75% illegitimacy rate . no goverment can solve crime or provide jobs when your birth rate far out paces your GDP growth ...this is about a lack of personal responsibility as a people ..

There has to be some serious focus on the social frame work of this country. The church spent far too much time been political , and not enough time doing what it ought to do ! We need more parents and family programes . Also we need less political games and more unity . The population of the country is very small , we ought to have more accountablity . When focus is more on positive achievement , will inspire greatness.

Agreed. It seems as though claiming to be possessed or just plain not remembering events can get you off. Crimes committed due to the affects of substance abuse should NOT eliminate adequate punishment. This plea agreement is similar to what a child gets for his/her first time coloring on mommy's new table.

“Should you color anything else, you will be in time-out , okay?” SMDH
