I’m a bit shock by some of the comments made; clearly some were made out of ignorance. No one knows what really went on in their marriage. I know a lot of pretentious married couples, who act a certain way in public but behind closed doors their different. I’m sure their relationship wasn’t like that in the beginning; remember she said yes to him at want point when he proposed to her. My heart goes out to them both and their families; especially for her knowing that she has to live with what she did for the rest of her life. If her husband was so abusive, why didn’t she leave him? Her husband may have been a drunkard and abuser, but is that a requirement to end his life. He wasn’t born a drunkard something led him to it. Remember, God created all of us and He wish, “For all men to be save”, He also said,” Vengeance is Mine, I shall repay”. That is why He sent His Son to die for us, it’s because of Christ where still here today.

Clarification needed on Gibson's statement
Mr. Gibson is an advocate for big labor and big labor always views economics as a zero sum game. “If you make ten dollars and I make five, the only way for me to make two dollars more is for you to make two dollars less.” “If a job goes to someone with a work permit, that is a job lost to a Bahamian.” Both are fallacious statements refuted in the first semester of any college level Economics survey course, but both false thesis, are the basis for Bahamian government policy.
If Bahamian based businesses could hire qualified technically skilled persons, absent all the hurdles government imposes, many more Bahamians would have good, career, job opportunities. The Bahamian policy of tightly controlling work permits and of making them extremely difficult and expensive to maintain, has contributed to making this a “one industry” country and that industry, namely tourism, that can support only a relatively low level of wages and benefits.
The Bahamas is fortunate to be located a tiny hop from the largest, per capita, economy in the world. There are literally hundreds of U.S. business that could benefit from the many advantages that the Bahamas offers, that would offer thousands and thousands of “career jobs”, the kind of jobs that promote a strong middle class, who are deterred from any consideration of moving any aspect of their operations here, due to the restrictive, expensive and serendipitous attitudes of our government regarding work permitting necessary technical staff.
It is all terribly short sighted and very sad, and Mr. Gibson’s recent demagoguery on topic is just one more reason why many, many citizens of this wonderful island nation will suffer in an economic back water unnecessarily.

So he'll do a better job of vetting each application than he did for Anna Nicole? Perhaps BTC should only hire tall blondes from overseas.
On a serious note, I think the principle is good, but to my knowledge it is already enshrined in immigration requirements that companies have to justify each position.

Would you invest millions in a resort, when you couldn't even have your own people running the place? No? Neither would most of these foreign investors.

Well, I can blow your theory out of the water. Canada was one of the first countries to allow gay marriage. Canada was the first country to de-criminalise small amounts of marijuana. Canada was one of the first countries to open abortion clinics nationwide. Canada doesn't have prayers in school. They do not have the death penalty. And how did God punish Canada? He made it the number one choice of countries to live in, as rated by the UN. I direct you to the Canadian news at cbc.ca. There was an article today. Let me quote:
Statistics Canada says police recorded 543 homicides in Canada in 2012, down 55 from the previous year, as the country had its lowest homicide rate since 1966.
The agency says the 2012 homicide rate was 1.56 victims for every 100,000 population, down 10 per cent from 2011 and the lowest in four decades.
They have 34.88 million people and there were 543 murders.
So, actually those Canadian heathens where men sleep with men, and children are aborted on a daily basis, and marijuana is acceptable are blessed by your god. What does that tell you?

Read the Immigration Act, they did everything by the book. Unless you have video or audio to say otherwise, that is the fact of the matter. Stop being a lawless criminal, jackass.

Sands is an idiot. Fell right into the PLP's hands with this nonsense.
Sands will never ever be PM, he is an arrogant man, and not very personable. Retire Dr. Sands, go back to being a doctor....

Yes our police force has been endangering public safety for years now. They drive this bus like complete morons. Police need to learn that a siren is not a license to speed, it only allows the vehicle to continue on without stopping. Time to give our security forces some intense awareness courses. Too much ignorance on our forces....

Prison bus in road smash: Woman fights for life
The Prison Superintendent and that other clown are fcking retards if they think we are stupid enough to believe their sht - we see the prison convoy speeding with our own eyes, and the siren is next to useless when going around bends. And FYI the "outrider" is usually the blue van that was involved in this crash, which drives at dangerous speeds swerving in and out of traffic. Thank god it was not the yellow bus this time. And lastly, PRISONER TRANSPORT is NOT AN EMERGENCY.

So did the jeep collide with the bus or did the bus collide with the jeep? Contradicting. The way they dangerously rush through traffic with these prisoners amaze me sometimes that no accident results from this. Half the time you dont even know because of the lack of 'visual awareness' or lighting, just having a big school bus and unmarked cars with sirens is not enough to warn other drivers. Half the time they dont even know where they are coming from. Maybe a better visual bus equipped with visual lights all around will help as well along with the sirens.

The prison bus thinks it can do whatever the hell it wants. The driver should be locked up.

Those prison buses must get their drivers from the Jitney pool...only downside is they are amped up because they got sirens blarring...there is NO need to run those buses at the speed they do. By all means, use your lights to pass traffic, but it's not an 'emergency', you don't have to drive recklessly and go 60-70 mph down congested streets.

Sorry to hear of the accident to this poor woman. Why doesn't government buy a new high security bus with blacked out windows that can travel through the town at normal speeds? It is absolutely irresponsible for the Prison Service to be allowed to drive that ramshackle of a bus at speeds that pose a danger to law abiding motorists. Is there anyone running this country?

I personally witness the prison bus weaver left to right on Wulff Road and nearly lost control. It seems as though Commissioner Greenslade hasnt address this serious issue until one day it be his relative. The bus that is transporting prisoners does not need to be speeding up through the congested streets of Nassau. Why is it that an Ambulance can pass without damaging or causing an accident? Why is it that a fire engine can pass without causing damages or an accident? The reason is safety of others. Here it is this lady is clinging for her life and yet the Prison bus is still speeding through the capital. Prisoners are being injured, they have rights, they are innocent until proving guilty. Mr. Greenslade and others, I know you are reading what we the people write and Mr. Editor, please publish what we say so they can see this. There is no reason to speed the bus through the capital, what if those prisoners had escape and were dangerous? Please let us all pray that this lady makes it through.

Ordinary Bahamians don't matter in this country. Now if you are in the civil service you can do as you please. The police do as they please day and night. Speeding is their right, no seat belt no problem, taking the kids to school in a police car, right away, drinking on the job, everyday, sleeping on the job, of course, ignoring complaints, thats right, stealing, more than you know. ANYTHING. What happens if they are caught, NOTHING, for they are civil servants and they can do as they please, Too hell with the people they work for (the Bahamian people), they are government workers and Bahamian Government does as it pleases no matter how detrimental it is to the BAHAMAS.
