Guns are not the problem. It is the mind that tells the hand to pick up and point the gun that is where the problem lies. Fix the human heart and these kinds of problems disappear!

Hey if the man wants to announce that he is the next Governor General that is his rights. He broke no law. However, my big problem is him announcing to the people that Bahamasair will reduce price for that day. That is totally out of bounds, for if they do it for one day, they should do it for every day, unless he is dealing with chartering the airline.

. Lastly, it would have been good to end the partisanship that takes place in the Governor General position, and leave Marguerite, even though I felt she never should have been there in the first place. But at least it would have brought about a new day of politics in our country. But, guess the more things change the more they stay the same.

bahaymeeun 5 years, 6 months ago on US woman dies after shark attack

Snorkeling anywhere in the Bahamas is taking somewhat of a chance of being attacked by a shark. Let's guess that 1/3 of our 6 million tourists go snorkeling per year. Maybe 1 attack a year. That's a 1 in two million chance of getting bit. Lots go swim with the nurse sharks at Compass Cay. They get about 2 to 3 bites a day there. Not bad bites as they have small teeth, but that's what sharks do. Swim in the sea at your own risk unfortunately! I really feel sad for this family.

BahamaPundit 5 years, 5 months ago on Sarkis unveils his ‘Preserve’

While FDI and development is generally a good thing for countries, New Providence is becoming over developed to the detriment of local Bahamians. New Providence is fast becoming Harbor Island, and it will be hard to find a home priced under 500K. It is clear that the entire Western half of the island will soon become one big gentrified gated community, off limits to average Bahamians. More than ever before, it is feeling like Bahamians are losing their country to global elites. Will this development interfere with the Clifton Heritage Park? Please let us know its exact location. I would have much preferred to see this development in Grand Bahama, where there is more land space and economic need for a project of this type.

Baha10 5 years, 5 months ago on Bran: Bahamas 'must explore' income tax

We need to learn to manage "and make do with" what we have, which includes reducing expenditure and maximizing efficiency, as opposed to simply looking for new ways to further tax those that are already keeping this Country afloat, who will simply leave if the burden of supporting others becomes to heavy. This coupled with population control through an immigration policy that reduces the number of illegals immigrants with nothing to offer and effective family planning reducing the number of children will reduce the burden on the already over stretched social services whether education, medical, etc. Indeed, imagine if we had been able to contain our population to 250,000, as opposed to the 400,000 we are today … WE WOULD BE THE WEALTHIEST COUNTRY ON THE PLANET … without having done anything!

My question about this wage discussion is this? If you are making $210 per week minus the deductions, why the heck would you have 3 or 4 children......or even one for that matter?

Come on my people, you are doing this to yourselves......and yinna wan get vex when former MP Richard Lightbourne told yinna to close your legs and use contraceptives.......geez man!!!!

Don't get me wrong, there should be an increase in the wage, but for crying out loud, stop having a pile a chirren and start making some sensible decisions!

Racism is so much less about skin colour and so much more about cultural stereotypes.

Class is a much bigger problem.

And as a white Bahamian who grew up having to run home lest I want get beat by black boy, I can assure you reverse racism exists.

Your comments Alicia price only your ignorance and lack of understanding , not only of racism, but of our own country .

Let me assure you that a wealthy black person can just as nasty towards a white person as a wealthy white person is towards a black person. Though neither are acting because of skin colour or ancestry.

And none of us are actually white or actually black.

I suggest you either shut your mouth, as there is no sense proving your ignorance. Or alternatively, phrase your thoughts as thoughts and not absolutes.

Lest your goal is to make things worse.

A column with more than the usual amount of ignorance. Alicia has obviously never tried to get a contract as a white skinned Bahamian from a black majority rule government. Reverse racism is real and experienced everyday by white Bahamians having to deal with black Bahamians in positions of petty bureaucratic power. The struggle is real. Just look at the crown land grants given out over the past 38 years and you will notice something striking.

The author of this article cannot be serious that in our black majority rule and controlled country that reverse racism does not exist. To make such a statement stinks of ignorance. The fact that she assumes that just because you are white means you have money and therefore power over people and are racist towards them is a racist viewpoint in and of itself. I have a number of white friends, and they don't have any money, but sadly they have experienced racism from the very brown skinned people of my complexion. Not only does reverse racism exists, but ever since the so called majority rule, those of us who are the complexion the majority have felt more racism from the ruling oligarchy who are our same skin colour.

. While I realise the Tribune likes to allow people there freedom of opinion in publishing articles, some articles really just do not need to be published when they lack ignorance displayed a blatant regard for becoming informed.

Probably because the actual cost is $5 million, then you multiply by 3 to $15 million and the Crony in Govt also gets $4 million as a bonus.

Well_mudda_take_sic 5 years, 3 months ago on Restoring Rand after storm will cost $19m

Here's the expenditure breakdown:

True build cost - $15 million

Construction inefficiencies - $8 million

Contract padding for politically connected FNM muck-a-mucks - $12 million

Total cost - $35 million (minimum)

What an awful article. Ashamed of what???? Go carry your shame to Haiti and fix the country. Our government has every right to adhere to the law!!! The UN needs to go CIC and speak out against Chinese concentration camps. This is just bullying the Bahamas. If the Bahamas became another Haiti, the UN wouldn't care at all. The UN should be ashamed for encroaching on our sovereign right to adhere to the rule of law!!!

But now that he's Minster of Education... "the public doesn't understand the results, students are actually doing fine."
When will you people admit that neither governments have brought any significant improvement in education.

Come out of your ivory towers at headquarters, get into the schools and find out what's really going on and how you can provide real support and change!! smh

Trump has done nothing that American presidents have not been doing for decades. They constantly strong arm other countries, influence their economies and elections and far worse. That process was political theater and nothing more. That being said, the outcome was expected and predicted. Let's see what happens next!

You're suffering from a serious case of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) and may need some of the same anti-anxiety and/or anti-depressant medication that others are now taking to help them cope with its most annoying symptoms.

Trump has done more for under-privileged Americans of colour in three years than Obama did in eight years. Trump has given many of them jobs and self-esteem whereas Obama simply gave them food stamps. And that's a cold fact no matter how much one may dislike Trump's behaviour in general.
