Church leader criticises plans to legalise gambling
I fully concur with Pastor Lee's views and I must say that Apostle has missed the boat completely. The fact of the matter is sir/madam the playing of numbers in the Bahamas is at this very moment an illegal act period! The very fact that the word "Decriminalize"was used makes it obviously clear that the powers that be knows it is in fact criminal,For how can something be "decriminalized"if it isn't "criminal".I submit that all that is need is the enforcement of the already existing laws.I feel as though this is really a non-issue,a way of taking the Pontius Pilate way out of a situation, let the people decide and if it works whoopee,if it has negative consequences, don't blame me the people voted for it.My/our hands are cleaned, while there are somethings that should go to referendum, this does not fall into that category .

Brilliant. Government sponsored compassion in action. Can we also take a dozen Christian Syrian orphaned refugees as well? What a great example to the world and would gets lots of positive world press coverage with the right publicity.

Everywhere, as I go about the Bahamas, I hear people incessantly talking about numbers. Which ones they bet, which ones they are going to bet, which ones came in for somebody else. It makes me sick. All this jabber is a monumental waste of time and efficiency (most of it is done while on the employer's clock). And what a monumental waste of money! Poor, ignorant, superstitious people wasting the few dollars they have in the hope they will win big. And losing does't seem to deter them. Why don't they invest their time and money in developing self, family and community? With better odds for a positive outcome. Come to think of it, numbers may help explain the less than stellar work ethic found in the Bahamas. Just a passing observation by a Bahamian who doesn't play the numbers.
