Tarzan 11 years ago on Bimini's dive tourism in peril 'for nothing'

Doesn't everyone know that all these people hand wringing about this Bimini project are really just pawns or paid agents, engaged in a huge conspiracy involving the introduction of Cane Toads to Lyford Cay; in order to introduce flesh eating bacteria into the Bahamas; in order to drive out current residents so the evil doers can buy up all the land; in order to stop Mr. Nygard's humanitarian efforts to replace western medicine with stem cell belly injections; in order to.....

Oh, I forget the rest of it, but whatever it is, it is really complicated and really bad and really racist and really something we need to do something about, so stop already with these complaints about the destruction of the seabed.

Someone needs to ask Obie what will happen if Genting gets Miami approval on their casino? They have started work on the property in Miami, hotel will be built. They will create jobs in Miami and will most likely get approvals in a few years. What then? Will they continue to run a cruise ship 40 miles to take their clients to an island to gamble? Day trippers have given horrid revues. So what's Genting's long term plan?

But in the name of 'progress' and economic gain, you are going to destroy most of what Bimini is famous for, it's diving and it's fishing, so we are going to screw that all up for decades, maybe longer, so we can build a stupid pier that likely will not function properly anyways in adverse weather, so you can also overpopulate and destroy the essence of a nice 'out island' community and experience. Not to worry, dollar signs reign supreme here in spite of every other common sense aspect.

No need to get your panties in a bunch. They are destroying the only thing going for the Bahamas at this time, it's beautiful waters and everything that lives in it. That Florida fisherman probably knows more about the Bahamas than most people that live here.

Well it looks like they do have some power, and thankfully so. Why would anyone want this to go on in Bimini? This government is the biggest joke. Full of idiots.

Anchor projects????????????? The only real successful Family Islands with this approach may be Abaco and San Salvador,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the rest have had major challenges in the past two decades

"Government officials" didn't have time to comment yesterday. They were too busy conjuring up some fictitious permits and assessments created instantaneously without regard to protocols and laws. Tell me how they could more than TRIPLE the amount of dredging to be conducted without obtaining a completely new EIA? And "our" government just signs off on these things without consultation with ANYONE. P.C. say its okay, must be okay. Hey, how are those "anchor projects" doing in West End and Mayaguana? These anchors gonna sink the Bahamas.

When Disney was filming in GB, they made a big mess on the beautiful beach, ruined the reef, abandoned a rusty hulk and walked away. The property owners complained to government reps but no one cared. Remember? I feel for the Bimini residents. Don't let it happen!
