Realtors look for tax cuts
Fully agree. Realtors are always begging Government to reduce the tax they take but never willing to reduce what they take. the 6 and 10% were brought in when most property sold for much less. Now People like Mr. Christie can sell a $10 million property in Lyford, or Ocean Club and pocket $600,000. And they can do this more then once a year. So please stopping playing poor and reduce your fees as thats more annoying then paying Government .

Two patients die: 200 medics quarantined
The great irony here is that this was preventable to a great extent IF they had simply treated every patient as though they had the infection and taken the necessary precautions! Hospital visits should have been stopped from the very first COVID case was diagnosed in the country. How could you have potentially infected persons with no symptoms walking onto the hospital as visitors anyway? Sad and careless!

Royal Caribbean: No Crown Land lease for $110m project
Mr Benford, meanwhile, said the Royal Beach Club will be the key “stimulus” that drives the tripling of passengers brought to The Bahamas by Royal Caribbean over the next decade to 2030. “It’s incredibly important. It’s the stimulus for the growth; to go from 2m passengers a year to 6m a year is because of that Royal Beach Club,” he told Tribune Business.
Not all Bay Street merchants, restaurants, tour operators, transportation providers, straw vendors and other segments that rely on the cruise industry for their livelihoods are likely to view it that way, with many likely to perceive the Royal Beach Club as cannibalising and sucking post-COVID business away from their enterprises.
BENFORD HIMSELF UNABASEDLY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S PROPOSED ROYAL BEACH CLUB ON PARADISE ISLAND WOULD BE DIRECTLY COMPETING WITH THE DOWNTOWN BAY STREET TOURIST DISTRICT. ENOUGH SAID. GOVERNMENT MUST NOT ALLOW THIS PROJECT TO PROCEED.
Both Minnis and Davis need to explain to the Bahamian people how a foreign owned group like Royal Caribbean was allowed by the Bahamian government to buy 13.5 acres of land on the western end of Paradise Island.
And the Minnis led FNM administration should not sign a Crown Land grant or lease agreement with Toby Smith unless the terms expressly prohibit Royal Caribbean or any other cruise ship group from acquiring a direct or indirect commercial interest of any kind in the property by way of any type of joint venture or partnership arrangement.

Beach vendors’ fury as owners move to close off their access
Hold on, I thought we were all on 1 accord about people squatting on private property.
Instead of the government being "blindsided" by a private company doing what they want with their own private property shouldn't they instead be more proactive in zoning reserved no-build beach access for Bahamians?
If you are dumb enough to allow all our beach to be sold and I buy it how can you tell me I cant do with it as I wish?
And what about the threatening remarks in this article? Did the developer steal the deeds to the property or did they lawfully purchase the land?

Tourism relief: Biden doesn’t kill Christmas
We are happy to hear all the rosy predictions from the Tourism Ministry and associates. However the reality is always different. When visitors can go nearly everywhere else without cumbersome and expensive Health Visas why should they come to our country anyway? On top of all those requirements there are these added health tests, quarantines etc. No one knows what the next rules will be as the virus spread is uncertain. By making our country one of the hardest to enter we have lost a lot of business. Yet even the hotel workers' union and affected businesses said little or nothing about the Visa deterrent. Most travelers will just decide to stay home as travelling overseas now is very uncertain.

Her point about mask wearing is literally false information. if its not a properly fitted N95+ mask that's worn and changed regularly then it will have little to no effect. There are numerous studies now. As a news outlet you should be asking for evidence for these claims. Lots of people have been wearing masks, they still got covid....omicron has made them next to useless.
So get vaccinated.

Arrest Kimly Ferguson for domestic terrorism. Take the country back from this malignant stupidity. Set an example for all of the other ignorant unionists that think it is in their right to hijack an entire economy.

Dome families to receive cash help
Let me see. For every dome there will probably be cash payouts to at least 5 different people. And they will probably find more domes than are actually in existence. It would be great if the reporters can specify how many domes are actually there at this very moment so that we can times that by $4,000 to see the budgeted cost of this initiative. We can then compare that to when they report "the hundreds of thousands that were paid out to assist families that lived in those domes".

Shake Shack for guests only until 5pm
I heard that they also discriminate against Canadians and Jamaicans. A Canadian man and his Jamaican wife who were staying the week at a hotel near the airport, were turned away from the Shack at 1030am one morning after being unable to produce an Aquaventure guest card and even admitting they were not staying at the Atlantis establishment.
Word has it that they encountered further racial discrimination that evening when they attempted to enter a movie theater in the Mall at Marathon but had not purchased tickets and were unable to show tickets to the entrance attendant. Police had to be called to calm them.
Recalling that the pillows at their cheap motel were not very good, they walked to the other end of the mall planning to buy some from Kelly's Home Centre, but when they got there at 937pm they found the doors locked and a sign that indicated operating hours of 7am-8pm. DISCRIMINATION !!!!! Why did Kelly's refuse to sell pillows to them? Do they hate Jamaicans or Canadians or both?

GET USED TO IT: Weekend shutdowns for whole of April, Easter written off by five-day ‘stay in’
How to make sure that everyone in the country is comprehensively infected as quickly as possible. Limit the amount of time available to shop and scare the pants off everyone with random lockdowns. This will force the entire population to line up and breath on each other for a couple of hours outside the food store and then go home and make sure any new infections are transferred to the rest of the family by being locked up inside an enclosed space together.
Then change the rules daily and use some poorly informed cops and store clerks to try and manage the chaos just to add some fear and frustration to the mix. Good luck Bahamas. I hope you are all working on your own immune systems because this isolation game is turning in to a joke .
