this is the most lieinis Government the Bahamas will ever see , they are liars of the highest order , but what saddens me is that we the general populace allow these men with clay feet to piss on us and expect us to call it gold, In their mandate to govern they promised to consult the people about oil exploration now they say they will drill and then and only then if they find oil they will then take it to a referundumb . Its a case of the Dr operating with out the womans consent , killing the baby in the process , then asking for permission to proceed further. We need to ask the people of hunters and pinders point what a little oil spill can do , ask the fokls in hepburn town what the oils spill has done to their small coastal village . wake up bahamas. Koed Smith and Renegotiate ,bahamas sell out trust , you guys need to talk sense to this wutluss sell out crew and tell them straighten up and fly right .

"Clean up costs" are only a small part of the bigger issue. The real concern is the marine life. We live in a country with an ABUNDANCE of marine life that can't be found anywhere else because of overfishing, pollution, etc. Remember, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (BP oil spill)? Well...the gulf is STILL experiencing effects nearly three years later.

Some people really need to stay to the back man. How will insurance pay for beach that will never be pristine again? how will insurance bring the marine life back to our waters in our life time ? Its all about money to some who sit in these dark back rooms cutting these shady deals. some of us just need to stay to the back , making these asinine statements. i hope you like your talapia fried dry.

I do not agree with you, wachawant. It is not the FNM that sullied the word "referendum". It is the Government. The PM put his foot in his mouth from the word "go" when he said the Government has no horse in the race and then proceeded to advocate by his actions and words for a "yes" vote. When I hear the word "referendum" I now associate it with something stupid and senseless so if I were this present administration, I would stay away from holding any more referendums for a while. We are still reeling from the last one and the taste in our mouths is not very good at this time.

Excellent. If only more Bahamians would speak out about the ridiculous things going on in this country - things that go on unchecked regardless of whether PLP or FNM are in power.

The one solution to assist with the Bahamas reduction in using carbon based fuels is hamstrung by the government regulation. Solar is ideal power generation for us but the red tape makes it uneconomic

Nonsense. How many jobs are in the hotel, fishing and dive industry combined? Well then, that is how many will be gone if a Deepwater Horizon accident were to happen here. That slick covered more ocean that then entire square footage of the Bahamas. It cost $65 billion to clean up. And the population is 385,000.

Many Bahamians have no knowledge of the pain and suffering our Queen had to endure in the earlier years of her marriage to Philip who was her third cousin. His mother was Princess Alice of Battenberg - Queen Victoria's great-granddaughter.

The many stories about his extramarital life during the earlier years of their marriage will now of course be resurrected by the UK tabloids as will his own broken family's close ties to Hitler and the Nazi Party. Both of his older sisters were full fledged members of the Nazi Party and there are, unfortunately, many embarrassing photos of a teenaged Philip attending official functions with uniformed senior Nazi officers, including the highly publicized funeral of one of his Nazi sisters.

But to give our Queen full credit, she stood by her man and ended up setting an unequalled life of public service and duty as the greatest example for him to follow, which he thankfully did. Rest in Peace Prince Philip and God Save The Queen.

A truly dedicated person to all the people in The Commonwealth. Prince Philip will be truly missed. A lifetime of service to other people in so msny endeavours especially The Duke of Edinburgh Award programme for young people and his Chairmanship of The World Wildlife Fund. I recall the Royal visits to The Bahamas with happy memories.

As a Bahamian this sickens and embarrasses me. Columbus was responsible for many terrible things, for which he should be held in contempt, but he is also a part of our history, and those of us who wish to pull ourselves out of the primordial sludge of ignorance understand that. Hate and stupidity. Although I’m sure the haters will be writing letters to the editor calling this idiot a “hero”. It’s a New Day!

Where was the RBDF security detail while all this was going on? Reverend Sebastian Campbell will probably nominate this lunatic for a “National Heroes” award If ignorance was money we’d have no National debt.

How sad to see our country descend to these unlawful activities. We are importing the negative attitude of activists in other nations. We cannot rewrite our history. Bahamians must have a better knowledge of our history and be proud of our long and colourful traditions. Christopher Columbus made a contribution as did others over the centuries. This monument and that of Queen Victoria must be better protected. For someone to be able just to mount the statue and damage it and no police or security are around can no longer be tolerated.

Mr Mitchell said Prime Minister Philip Davis "wants to make the point to the Americans directly that you must have a summit of all countries of the hemisphere and not some countries of the hemisphere.”

Translation: Loyal senior Chinese Communist Party agents in The Bahamas, namely Mitchell and Davis, decide to really stick it to the American people for not respecting the rights of authoritarian regimes and the ruthless dictators who run them.

We are very grateful for Her Majesty's 70 years of dedicated service to The Commonwealth. Our Constitutional Monarchy is our democratic foundation. We are the envy of many other nations. Our free Parliament,. our judicial system, our impartial Governor-General all make our country a very reliable place in which to invest. We must keep a system which works well.
