Tarzan 11 years, 1 month ago on Bimini's dive tourism in peril 'for nothing'

Doesn't everyone know that all these people hand wringing about this Bimini project are really just pawns or paid agents, engaged in a huge conspiracy involving the introduction of Cane Toads to Lyford Cay; in order to introduce flesh eating bacteria into the Bahamas; in order to drive out current residents so the evil doers can buy up all the land; in order to stop Mr. Nygard's humanitarian efforts to replace western medicine with stem cell belly injections; in order to.....

Oh, I forget the rest of it, but whatever it is, it is really complicated and really bad and really racist and really something we need to do something about, so stop already with these complaints about the destruction of the seabed.

The bible says it is a sin to eat shell fish, but I'm sure Patterson has no problem eating a big helping of conch salad. This is just another hypocritical stance by religious leaders. They pick and chose what suits them to judge others.

In the April 19, 2012 article in the Guardian and Tribune relating to the financial disclosure of candidates, 56 of the candidates were millionaires. How many of the sitting MPs are among the Millionaire's MP Club?

Also, how many of the current MPs currently adhere to the annual disclosure act that is law? Let's have them comply with the current disclosure law and then we can discuss salary increases.

ThisIsOurs 10 years, 4 months ago on BEC says it is 'doing its best'

Sorry, I can't be understanding. For forty years the government has used these utility corporations as employment for dummies from their campaign offices. While there are some technocrats and other productive individuals at the corporation, the dummies always get in the way. And don't let the dummy have a senior position! That generally spells doom because you can't make sensible recommendations to them, cuz "who do you think you are? You better learn how to play the game"

Forty years of dummies throwing big parties and driving around in new company cars and fighting to get a good office and parking spot. Forty years of this foolishness to finally recognize today, oh our equipment is aging...gee

HAM should probably consider a U-turn when entering Bay Street ............. he is really making this term too easy for the PLP ................. and frustrating for right-thinking Bahamians that are looking for a brighter future.

HAM should just resign his seat.................. live his good rich, privileged life ................and let a better FNM candidate take his safe seat that will provide better leadership to the FNM. It wont be a disgrace ............ it would be mature statemanship.

Haiti population is 10.5 million. Ours is just under 400,000. So we are now a quarter of their size (as you say), but instead are only 1/26th of their size.

Haitians need to understand that they CANNOT take over the Bahamas. They can only OCCUPY the land. Once they have occupied all of the Crown land that the Government refuses to give to Bahamians (but instead allows the Queen to keep) - then they will be the majority in the Bahamas and since we have "majority rule" - they will rule.

The problem they are not understanding is that at that time the Bahamas will be almost identical to Haiti (because it will be run by Haitians). They will then effectively still be living in Haiti because everything will be the same.

They will not have improved themselves at all.

I'm a part of the LGBT community and I'll say this...this is the wrong time. WRONG TIME. The Bahamas is in no way shape or form ready for something like this. If I want to get married, I'll go to the States. I don't even see why straight persons want to get married here. This is hurting the referendum and influencing ignorant Bahamians to vote no on the belief that there's some hidden agenda. Erin, NOW IS NOT THE TIME.

If the PM is so interested in the environment then he will have no problem bringing into force the North Bimini Marine protection area, right? Also he should be hot on the heels the serial Clifton oil leak. While he is at it maybe he can explain why BEC is going to buy 6 generators (never mind every one of the exsiting ones) that burn bunker C fuel, the worst for the environment there is? The list goes on but Lets see if the man is just paying lip service as usual, I.E. election promises. Politicians are the sphincter' s of the human race, they spew crap constantly.

BahamaPundit 10 years, 1 month ago on $100 million rescue plan for ailing BOB

I was insulted when the PM compared this to the US bailouts. This isn't even close:

  1. The US bailouts were due to sub-prime mortgages, which everyone at the time in the industry thought were a sustainable product. We have no idea what the BOB loans consisted of -- were they even secured? Did they just hand out cash and call it a loan?

  2. The US banks that were bailed out were considered too big to fail, because they would jeopardize the entire US economy. BOB is hardly too big to fail. It could go under and most people would hardly notice.

  3. The US has the world's largest economy and can afford to bail out failing institutions. The Bahamas' economy is diminutive and on the verge of collapse. It cannot afford such a grandiose endeavor as bailing out a bank to the tune of 100 mill.

It's also insulting that they used a propaganda name like "Bahamas Resolve." This has nothing to do with the Bahamas. Name it the Dirty Politician Resolve. Don't sully the Bahamas' name with your nefarious schemes.

I beg the Press to look into every aspect of this deal, as it stinks to high heaven. What will happen to the 100 million dollars of bad loans? Will taxpayers have to foot the bill? Why was there so much secrecy and deception around BOB's failings? They even called the Punch a liar, when they were telling the truth. What was the exact amount of bad loans lent to politically exposed persons? This is a dark day for both political parties, as their true colors have been revealed to the world.
