John 11 years, 4 months ago on Florida senator Marco Rubio 'outraged' over Bahamas deporting Cubans

SEEMS like these people trying to use the Bahamas to advance their dispute with Cuba. On the one hand they claim the Cubans were beaten, mistreated and underfed in the Bahamas but they made no effort to assist in their maintenance. Then they say the Cubans was seeking to return to the USA but authorities in that country never gave permission for their return. Then there were claims that they eere granted assyulum in Panama but this was never confirmed. In the main time loud and embarrassing protests were going on affecting the economy and number one industry of this country. The government did the right thing and got the Cubans out of this jurisdiction. Now they should communicate with the Cuban government and those protestors in Florida and let them know that while the present environment exists, there is no guarantee thst Cubans found illegally in our waters and on our shores will NOT be returned to Cuba. So advise their people NOT to come

Truth is the less dollars the insurance companies have to pay out to their policy holders the more profitable for their bottom lines balance sheets.

Bahamaland's water drainage system is still operating at about the same proficiency as when Noah was building his Ark.

shortpants 11 years, 7 months ago on . . . and yet no insurance payout for some victims

I live in Pinewood and I bail water out of my home all day yesterday .This is why we in the Bahamas should not pay insurance because they find every which way not to pay you ,but when time come to collect they all over you which is not fair .Why pay insurance if anything happens you have to find your own monies to rebuild does not make sense. Pinewood people for sure should not make payments on their homes because Arawak Homes knew from day one that they did no justice to those homes swamp land no fountain my water came up from my floors not from the outside and every month I have to make my payments to the bank if I want to keep my cheaply built home .For years we in pinewood endure this mess with no help from Arawak Home . Insurance,Banks ,Lawyers are the biggest scammers in the world ..

'Premature' energy tender' in 30% renewables goal

“Overzealous” officials have prematurely released a bid document for Family Island alternative energy projects, which reveals the Government aims to generate almost 30 per cent of their power needs from renewables by 2015.

Why varied rates required per Island? While fuel transport costs, and inefficiencies in scale of generation played a role in conventional Fossil fuel generation, Solar/Wind have no transport costs beyond initial equipment install. Scaling should be almost linear island by island.

Hospitals in Eleuthrea and Cat Island..$10 million for sporting facilities in the family islands.. Plus an Agriculture school and other spending..good gesture..invest inthe Family Islands..but this cannot be a one-time spend. Bring the major family islands up to par with New Providence and Grand Bahamas and reduce the crowding in New Providence. With the advent of technology, many government filing and document processing offices can be located on a Family Island. So can call processing for btc and some of Cable Bahamas' operations. Offer lower industrial electricity costs on selected family islands and/or allow companies that move significant operations to operate 90% on solar or renewable energy.

TOUGH CALL: Flooding in New Providence

A FEW years ago I attended a meeting where a government planner displayed some startling maps. They showed the areas of New Providence that would be severely affected by storm surge flooding from a direct hit by a major hurricane.
