Another embarrassment for the Bahamas. You would think that they would choose someone with brains or couth to represent us to the most important country in the world.

Bishop Hall I implore you to please site some evidence based research on this theory that familial abuse lends to homosexual lifestyles because I can certainly tell you there is no such reputable article that exists.

Yes, many psychologists and sociologists site and are correct in that family life affects adult behavior, but no where in that conclusion does that include sexual behavioral inclinations.

As far as your putting HIV/AIDS statistics, heterosexuals are far and away outrunning homosexuals on that front. Heterosexuals can learn alot from the homosexuals on how to control the transmission of that disease.

As a heterosexual/straight Bahamian man, I find the Bishops comments not only baseless but homophobic and repulsive. We are better than this.......

Ironvelvet 11 years, 9 months ago on Bahamian's tell-all book about Eddie Long scandal

The next time you all see a 3 year old little boy behaving in a feminine manner try and tell yourselves he chose that at 3 years old, just try and see how idiotic it sounds. The next time you are attracted to the opposite sex, think about if you couldn't make that feeling known, or act on the impulse of attraction in a physical way. You will see how difficult it is rebuke that instinctual feeling.

We may not like their flamboyance, shoot I don't like to hear the flamboyant, ignorant, krass heterosexual male comments hurled at me when I walk down a street, but hey I have to endure them because they are heterosexual and acting out their 'natural' attraction that has been accepted in our society. I couldn't imagine being sexual with a person of the same sex, just as much as they likely can't imagine being with a person of the opposite sex. So the argument of encouraging young boys to follow homosexual lifestyles is ludacrous.

Slavery was also in the Bible, for all of you about to evoke the word of God into this, but I don't see us going back to the Massa' to take us back as slaves because the word of God says so. And don't talk to me about old vs. new testament, to me that is the same as back in the day versus today. And don't we live in today?

"Same sex marriage does not create life" Indeed it doesn't, People create new human life-not a particular institution created by people. Now if there was a heterosexual couple, but are physically unable to have children, by your logic they shouldn't be allowed to get married either. And what about very old couples? Do you see the flaws in your argument yet?

I was wondering if this would make it to the newspapers at home, glad it did. Well...embarrassing, but true. I and many others have been saying it, Bahamian media needs a mass overhaul. That goes for television and newspapers. However, nothing will happen because mediocrity is something we all accept in our beloved county. Does pride in one's work and concern for reputation matter anymore?

Interesting 11 years, 5 months ago on Butler-Turner and Rollins apologise

I commend Long Island MP Loretta Butler-Turner for her actions. I would be greatly disappointed in her if she failed to slap him on behalf of all women. “No” means “No” and “Stop” means “Stop”. This is the very reason why this is one of the most under-reported offenses that few want to discuss openly because it does happen often on the job.

No matter what men folk say of how the MP should have handled it, it is still “sexual harassment” in the work place. This causes a hostile and uncomfortable work environment. The Fort Charlotte MP was warned and he continued. Most men who behave in this manner actually act as if they are doing someone a favor and how dare one not appreciate what they think is a flattering form of attention.

Unwanted touching is violating one’s personal space and the person doing the touching needs to be called out for it. Why should this be dealt with in privacy so this person who feels so entitled can move along to make another person the target?

Unacceptable behavior that must be addressed immediately includes physical threats, abusive language, offensive jokes, put-downs and intimidation tactics. Many times the offender takes advantage of committing these offenses in isolation. But there are those who are bold and have the nerve to do this in public with an arm around you and whispering in your ear.

This should not be tolerated and this is the perfect forum to suspend or terminate the offender. This would be the perfect example for others to see how the work environment protects the workers of the government and all its people. Be and show respect for your colleagues especially when you are in the public eye.

Concerned 11 years, 9 months ago on Chipman accuses Mitchell of missing the point

Mr. Mitchell really thinks he is still the Charm Boy and everything he says the Bahamian people will just accept because he speaks so eloquently and passionately. Well Mr. Mitchell, you can dress it up all you want put a pig is still a pig, even if it wearing a tuxedo. The only thing the PLP government is interested in is living the hog life off the backs of the Bahamian people.

Can we have the questions now so we can digest what we are being asked to vote on? No more trick it has to be legal to be regularized questions please.

Let's just keep on raping...it's a marital rite and obligation. I pity any man that feels that way. The church should be ashamed for promoting it.

banker 10 years, 11 months ago on Mitchell: I am criticised because of my support for gay rights

The next big enlightenment of the human condition will be the shedding of superstitious religious beliefs that bind people in a primitive worldview. Christianity is not much different or on a higher plane than any other of the world religions. However people will go to their graves believing that they will magically meet a prehistoric 33 year old Jewish man after they die, who's father "created" the universe. Life on earth, and especially life in the Bahamas should teach you that there ain't no magic. If there was, the Haitians would be rich with their voodoo.

Yes, and this is why educating our youth is so important. Ignorance is a choice in the era of information. To understand the historical significance of why Bahamians accept jesus as their lord savior one will understand the word irony.
