Mr. Moss, you are the future, and the PLP old boys club is a shameful past.

Good for you Mr. Moss. I like that you are standing up for what is right by the Bahamian people.

A very good article with some valid points. I've always felt that this Public Holiday could have been incorporated into the National Heroes Day Public Holiday. The last thing the Bahamas need is another public holiday, especially one that occurs right after taking 1 - 2 weeks off for Christmas and New Years celebrations. Can't really be good for productivity for our lazy nation and just another added cost for many struggling businesses. With regards to the holiday itself, I like the esteemed authour, always thought that the term 'Majority Rule' does nothing to bring us together as one Nation. Leave it up to the PLP to institute this holiday. It is akin to playing 'Roots' on ZNS right before elections.

Just another wasted holiday to shift attention away from the gloomy, dismal record of this worthless government. So long as the people are drunk from partying and celebrating the achievement of nothing, they just might overlook the 10,000 jobs that never came, and the skyrocketing murder rate.

No, I do not think so. If it continues as is, sooner or later things will come to a head. The longer the people are abused the worse it will be. I do not condone violence but i do predict there will be some if the politicians continue to ignore the "little man" in favor of special interests. If any political party thinks that they can run this country as their own little kingdom, they better think twice. The power of the people is something that should not be played with. Time for our politicians to wake up and shape up.

So who will this plan help? Bahamians can not access health care at the PMH now due to the amount of illegals that are up in there. This will just be another cash grab by the political elite who will never use the scheme and drain it of all funding for them and theirs to live large on the backs of poor Bahamians who can not afford more taxation. The Government of The Bahamas has a sad history of taxation with no return. It seems the only ones who receive a benefit from Bahamians paying tax are the politicians and their crony's. Sooner or later the people will get fed up and push back, god help us when that day arrives!

Just look at the USA, Canada and the EU welfare and health systems and imagine The Bahamas going down that same road ................. catastrophic economic consequences for a debt-ridden government.
