Cobalt 4 years, 3 months ago on Downtown Nassau needs ‘deep clean’

So what’s new? Nassau has always been a dump. Outside of Atlantis I don’t know why tourist would even want to visit the Bahamas. It’s overly priced and Bahamians generally offer horrible service. I can think of a number of other places in the Caribbean where tourist should visit rather than the Bahamas. It’s a total shame and an indictment against all Bahamians that foreign investors are the ones who have to initiate tourist attractions for tourist. We don’t even have any Bahamian owed resorts. Even with Disney, Atlantis and Bahamar operating, the Bahamas is still a crap hole. Bunch of nasty black people with no shame or pride in their surroundings. Better in the Bahamas my backside.

For goodness sake, if the Government could only collect at least half of the outstanding Real Property taxes it would be in great shape. There is no way on earth the they could collect income tax!!

The good news is that new corona cases in the US have plummeted by 70 percent since late January. At this rate most cases will be gone by next month (March as I have been saying since last year). The tourists will strengthen by summer and the country will have a booming winter season, especially if winter 2021 is half as bitter as this one. And do you know what that means for an FNM going into an election with a booming tourism industry and a rapidly rebounding economy? So that’s also why there will be no early elections.

I wonder why we withdrew into the gated communities....couldn't be because of the out of control crime, or the fact that we would like to not get robbed/raped traveling in certain parts of New Providence.

Keep using us as the scapegoat for all of the Bahamian problems, the UBP card still exists in the mind of both the FNM/PLP as a convenient means of shifting all of the blame for the issues of the past 50+ years elsewhere. Using a much maligned example in Bahamian society, Brent Symonette has invested in many Bahamian businesses not just limited to the tourism industry. Still doesn't stop the good old fashioned UBP/race card from getting pulled anytime Bahamas Hot Mix gets a contract. I am sorry, too many black Bahamians have a culture of victimhood and and a "blame the white people" mentality engrained in them from an era what most weren't even alive to witness. Do they still play Roots on ZNS before every election?

As for the ones that only stay in the safe industries, have you ever thought that people go into business to make money? Besides fishing, tourism, or financial services, there are only so many things to do to make a living in this economy. That is fixed, and unchangeable. We hear all of this talk about "diversification", but what else can really be done at this point? That is something that I never get an answer to.

All of the former colonies can scream "republic" as much as they want to be "Woke", "Trendy" and distance from the past but they still will ultimately be "local government" and vassals of the United States or whatever is the large regional power. The US and International Banks, that all the former colonies borrow from, will ultimately dictate policies to these nations.

Instead of worrying about meaningless gestures such as becoming a "republic", these former colonies should be trying to feed themselves instead of relying on imports, back their own currencies with something like gold or silver instead of US dollars, own their own debt instead of being owned by international banks and secure their borders, that's what real countries do.

I like both of the Royals. They did not have to come to the Bahamas. But they did. they should be treated with respect.

The tree he planted should be taken good care of it will last long after many have gone.

Nearly every country which has abolished our Monarchy has joined the ranks of a failed third world republic. Why would we want to change our democratic foundation of a free parliament, our own Governor-General and impartial courts? . This stability has brought us the investment we really need to progress. What advantage to us is a change to a republic? None that I can see.

Say the Bahamas wakes up tomorrow a Republic.

Still can't feed our own people, relying on imports, still backing our currency with US dollars, still high unemployment, still high violent crime, still D average, still can't defend your own airspace, still can't defend your own borders, still getting flooded with illegals and still would need the help of the US and UK if the shit really hits the fan, it's completely meaningless. Focus on what's important.

ABOMINATION 2 years, 8 months ago on Property tax challenge deadline is ‘too tight’

How stupid and ignorant can some Citizens be? Stop this inhumane Taxation now!! We call on the Government to stop this. How in the world can a Government come on people's private property and value or revalue it? Hmmm.. how? And who sanctioned this tax? DId the people who voted for you asked you to put this tax on them? Did the people, your Employer give you their mandate to tax us to Poverty? Let me tell you Government People, you have no right to carry on this taxation. 1. Tell us how much stupid money you had to pay to put in the computer system, just to run this extortion? Bahamians are clueless, they bought in a US Company/Consultants to tell them what to do with us, and set up this system...Tell us, the Bahamian people how much money you ended up paying to install a system to extort money, for life from the backs of hard working families. Most of us have to work dam hard to pay off our 15 to 25 years mortgage, with much sacrifices, and rightfully so, we all want a home for our family. YOu think Government People!!!! long and hard, how these families have to pay for upkeep of their homes. Do you help them fix the holes in the roof, or the rusting electricals, the plumbing, the falling walls, the leaky roofs, the driveways, the gardening, etc, etc. Do you help to pay for any of this. So what gives you the right to tax people "FOr Life" !!! you hear me for life!! paying you a second mortgage?!! Its not right, its extortion! You already collect millions in taxes from other means, I wont even go into all of them, you all know. And, tell me where does all the tax dollars go? Petition for abolishment of these taxes is coming! stay tuned. Bahamians I ask you to stand for something, please! Please stop letting these Administrations dictate to you and telling you what to pay, and how much and how high and how long. We the people, we the voters, IT IS TIME WE TAKE OUR ROLES AS THE EMPLOYER, AND THEN GIVE OUR GOVERNMENTS, "OUR MANDATE/VISION" NOT THEIRS! WAKE UP!!!!
