News flash: detainees at Fox Hill prison also sleep and pee on the floor. I have not heard as much concern for the thousands more Bahamians in Fox Hill in my life, versus the handful of immigrants provided with extensive publicity. Your concerns cannot be genuine if the only time you speak up is when a foreigner is involved.

One thing, every person who gets arrested and locked up over night pretty much sleeps on the ground, they where lucky they had cardboard. Go up to Fox Hill, them set sleep on cardboard every night.

................ and may I add .............. for Bahamians who get locked up in Jamaica .............. our police cells and jail cells are hotels as compared to any Penitentiary in the Big Yard .......... hope these so-called human rights activists know that as well ......... you smell a Jamaican jail when you are within two miles of it

I actually agree with birdie. This is a hearts and minds issue. No amount of laws will resolve it.

The video of the incident is still floating on social media. Sad that after a fairly peaceful school year, school must close with an incident like this. Murder. A student murdered by other students. All in uniform. All in broad day light. Two more sets of families grieving as warm blood flows again on the pavement, taking another life with it: leaving so many more shattered ones behind. My his soul rest in peace'

Sad that someone stood and recorded it...it's just weird. We're all being numbed to images of violence by irresponsible use of cellphones, WhatsApp and fb.

I blame the slack homes and slack schools and the slack churches and finally the slack government ........... in that order. But seriously, this incident did not just start yesterday, so where were the red flags to deal with on-going issues?????????

Aren't there police, school security and eight administrators in each high school????????

What about the parents? What is going on in the homes. What is in the homes comes out into the society, The government has its role. but the home is the first church and the first school, I know some parents try.

SP 8 years, 11 months ago on UPDATED: Three teens arrested in connection with student stabbing death

........................ Fast track this case as example to school children ...................................

These boys should be quickly tried and severely punished with the harshest sentences possible as a deterrent and example to other out of control children in the school system.

None of the usual nonsense fooling around with months and years to court, trial and sentencing. Set an example other children will relate to, and dam well do it quickly while we have their attention.

"Strike while the irons hot" now, or be prepared for more of the same.

Road traffic need to address those lines. It's ridiculous for someone to sit on a line by Shell gas station waiting to get through a drive through by fox hill. It's called obstructing traffic, it's on the books, there's a fine for it. Yesterday I saw a 70+ year old man struggling to cross the 4 lane HIGHWAY on foot. These people are worse than the Doris Johnson students making a nuisance of themselves in traffic. Worse than that, someone stuck in that ridiculous backup, did a u-turn in the middle of Prince Charles, in the front of two lanes of oncoming traffic. When people predictably start getting hurt, I hope the company pays the hospital bill.

Wow that was a robbing spree! It's the same old same ole: During the Christmas season you will always see lazy bastards looking for fast cash to buy lavish gifts for their materialistic girlfriends. It is a vicious cycle and it is not an easy fix. We Bahamians should now face the reality that we are living in a failed state. What compounds the problem is that everyone is stealing from the top to the bottom, from churches to the government and even outreach programs such as Urban Renewal are not safe from thievery. So there is no guidance for our young men; I guess they are saying, "everyone getting theirs, so I gatta get mines!"

i am boggled that Bahamians are willing to sit in line for such long periods of time for chicken! and not even healthy chicken. they'll spend an hour in their car or longer to wait for this, but they won't take an hour out of their day to march in opposition of VAT, for stronger crime prevention, for better education, for cleaner air - what a very sad reflection of the country and its people. it's CHICKEN, for crying out loud!! your ma's probably cook a hell of a lot better. get your friggin' priorities straight....

Cobalt 8 years, 11 months ago on Mitchell says judge's ruling is a challenge to authority

Fred Mitchell and the PLP don't know anything about proper procedure, protocol, due process, diplomacy, ethics, or legal principal.

They're a bush-league, banana-republic, government.

Someone please educate Flying Freddy on the Westminster system of government and the separation of powers under our Constitution so that he understands that his authority is not absolute and that, like the rest of us, he must respect and uphold the Constitution and laws of the Bahamas. The PLP and all of its moronic followers do not understand Constitutional government. They seem to want government by fiat. Government by fiat has a name - dictatorship! Get rid of this good for nothing PLP, Bahamas, before it is too late! These egotistical asses are writing cheques that our country cannot cash. Their arrogance knows no bounds.
